Anyone play this game? My girlfriends cousins all play this, and I wanna start playing lol. I want to get the new "Neo starter decks?" I'm not sure if they're all in Japanese, or if they're American versions of it? Joshpokeball maybe you can help?

Please don't ever compare the pokemon card game to magic. Pokemon the card game isn't worty of holding magic's jock. I used to play magic a lot. There was about 8 or 9 people in my neighborhood that played so there was plenty of competition. I quit playing because too many new sets were coming out that had maybe one or two good cards in them, plus the local card shop were I bought my cards went out of business.

Well MTG was like one of the very first if not the first card game to come out. Pokemon the card game is like a following of MTG. Never said it was anywhere near the quality of play. I too used to play MTG but no one around here plays it so I lost out.

there's a program called apprentice where you can play one on one games against people on the internet or 8 people booster drafts. it's pretty cool but I haven't played it over 1.5 years so I'd have to download the new packs and read about all the new cards that have come out.

you can get it at dragonstudios

Thanks, I have a life already, and a girlfriend who loves me very much. Like I said, I like to play the game with her little cousins.

Yes, I play the game. When my 8yr old daughter started getting interested in the cards 2 yrs ago, I sat down with her and we figured out how to play the game.

Yes, you can get the neo sets in english, check at your local hobby shop, they are pretty common. Of course you will find the commercial decks short on "power" cards so you will end up haveing to buy the more expensive cards to augment your deck.

I am disapointed to hear the old MTG players dissing Pokemon, MTG is a to involved for 5-7 year olds to play, Pokemon is a very simple game with some good stragitic thought involved. My daughter now 8, whos is starting to outgrow Pokemon, is looking with interest at the MTG cards. I have fears that Pokemon is a "gateway drug" to MTG!

I played a lot a few years ago...when Magic was the "hot" thing in my area :)

I still have a nice box of cards...if I could find the right person...I'd probably make a nice sum of money >:D

Also..my sister plays Pokemon...and let's just say that Magic is WAY above Pokemon...hehe

I play MtG fairly often (Played in tournaments on Friday - booster draft that I won - and Sunday - type 1.5 that I like to fool around in, went 1-1-2 with a mono-blue deck).

People that make fun of the Pokemon game must be insecure. There is a reasonable amount of skill to it and it is a very good game for younger players. Most move up to Magic when they get older. Plus Pokemon gave Wizards of the Coast so much money that they were able to really support the Magic Pro Tour and local tournaments as well.

I can't play using Netdraft or Apprentice from work, all the ports are blocked. I usually play (from home) using the MIE because I like to actually see the art work. I prefer playing using the real cards.

Is MIE a program or something?

Neo Discovery has just been released in the US. Head over to your local Toys R Us and you can find it there for a pretty damn cheap price, or at Target where they have a sale for 2 packs for $5. Neo 2 hasn't been released in the US yet.

I hated how WOTC watered down all the expansions after Urza's Saga (the last truly great expansion). I spent so much money on magic cards (at least $1,000, probably much more). So much fun in the winter.

JohnBlack - Magic Interactive Encyclopedia = MIE. It's a program made by WoTC. Since you actually have to pay for it (and it went out of print recently), it isn't as popular as Apprentice. It has all the art, though.

I like Invasion Block quite a bit. Nice cards and it is very fun to draft.
