anyone here like wolves?(pics included)

I love wolves. Loved them ever since I was a little kid. My nickname in junior high was Wolf because this guy thought my profile resembled a wolf and I also hit puberty early and was hairy.

I used to own a wolf-hybrid. He was 93% wolf and 7% german shepard. He was HUGE and his face looked kinda like the ones at the top of your picture there.

One of these days I'll own another wolf for sure!

My favorite animal. But I don't agree with people who have them as pets (sorry DrMoreau). They are wild and should be allowed to be so.

My hybrid was bred, he never was in the wild. There is a lot of skepticism/controversy surrounding the idea of owning hybrids, but most are not true. A hybrid will bond to the owner and his family more than a normal dog. Since wolves are pack animals the human family "becomes" the pack. They are very protective of their owners and rarely turn on them or the family as many would proclaim.

And under the right conditions they do not behave as if they are confined or removed from the wild. This is why I had to give my hybrid away. I moved into the city and into an apartment which wouldn't have been fair or right for him at all! But now I live in Alaska away from city life so I know I could give another hybrid a good home when the time comes.

There are wild dogs, wild horses, wild cats (Little and big), wild snakes, wild mice, and I would venture to say wild cows. These are all domesticated to some degree and are pets. Is a wolf a worse pet than a pit bull or other aggressive breed of dog?

If you want a wolf-like dog, buy an Alaskan Malamute and give it good training, because they're pretty aggressive. Only get a hybrid if you have the space and the time to really give it a good home and lots of attention. I think pure bred wolves are too unpredictable for pets. It's not as much a case of domesticity as breeding. Any wild animals, including horses - the most often domesticated wild animals - maintain some unpredictability.

I LOVE wolves. My neighbor has one and it's beautiful. A very gentle female...I love her.

Unfortunately, he's afraid the other neighbors will find out that it's a wolf and will be afraid of it and go to the police. I sure hope not.
