Just wanted to see if anyone likes "The Darkness" out there. I think there a great band with awesome guitar solo's and riff's plus i gotta smile everytime there's singing

Woke up at glastonbury to them setting up 
They were on the pyramid stage early in the morning (10am), id only got to sleep at 6am! Luckily I had a good view of the pyramid stage , and eventually went down into the crowds.

I haven't decided yet. I've been a guitar player since the 80's, and am known today as the "80's guy". I got the guitar tab book to Appetite For Destruction for Christmas this year. So the idea of an 80's sounding band intrigues me. I sort of like the single, but it's all I've heard. He definitely doesn't have a typical 80's rock voice. Sounds more like Tiny Tim. As my brother said, "Why listen to them? If you want to hear good 80's rock, go play some." Again, I want to like them, and will probably buy the CD soon.

The singer definitely has a unique voice. It's the true essence of falsetto. Like I said, it's not your typical hair band sound. Sounds more like Tiny Tim. He sounds like he's making fun of a female opera singer.

I got the CD yesterday and love it! And it's not puss rock.
There's nothing puss about "Get your hands off of my woman, motherf***er!" It has a Spinal Tap quality to it. It's more vintage 70's than "hair band" 80's. And if you don't like good 70's rock, there's something wrong with you.
yeah they are more 70's than 80's. think boston and queen. you have to realize that these guys don't take themselves seriously. the "serious" act is all part of the joke. but the great thing about them is, like andrew wk (who's in a similar position musically) they really do rock and write killer songs. the single that's out right now is flat out a better song than anything that's been on the radio in a long time (minus a few exceptions like radiohead, etc). there's nothing wrong with pop rock if it's done well, and these guys do it well.

It's tongue-in-cheek. They don't take it seriously. The girly wailing was annoying at first, but once you "get" them, you realize it's part of the act. It's not for everyone, but I dig what they're trying to do. It is trendy right now (especially in the UK), but I'd rather this be the trend than the rap-rock or boy bands. At least this has real musical influences, and might get this generation of kids to check out Queen and Boston. Or at least music with guitar solos.
I like it because it's fun to blare full blast in my car. And I think that's what they're trying to bring back - rock that's just fun and doesn't take itself seriously. Too many people will say, "Yeah, but what about his high pitch singing? I'm not supposed to like it." Just go with it and enjoy. I bet they put on a pretty good show too. I like a quote from one of the band members on their website:

Musically - I don't really like their album ("permission to land") that much, but I have to admit I am totally addicted to "i believe in a thing called love". Awesome song.
And I agree, there is no way in hell these guys are taking themselves seriously; stop being so uptight and have some fun when you listen to them. It's so tongue-in-cheek that I can't believe that someone would think the band is being serious. Fun/spoofy music is awesome.
And damn is that video cheesy (in a great way)

i liked "i believe in a thing called love" and then my bro let me hear some stuff he downloaded, i think ill buy, i liked their sound and that video was pretty cool
the new video rocks too! check it out at launch.com. the singer gets naked again. i sense a theme cropping up.

They have some great riffs and catchy lyrics. I cant help pumping my fist back and forth everytime i here them. Thier songs juice me up
I heard their CD for the first time during the Super Bowl.. Damn they got skills. I really liked it. I might venture to pick up that disc soon.
