SPSS is generally favored over SAS. Both are pretty intuitive, if you get a Windows version. Not too much to learning HOW to use it, but knowing the various statistical procedures and how to interpret results is imperative since neither SPSS nor SAS provide extensive training in statistics. You might consider Minitabs as another alternative. the Minitab site has a free 30 day test version available at their site.
