Hey everyone, I'm about to get into RC trucks/cars and stuff. I really want an RC10, but I'm poor, so that probably won't be happening. Here's the one I am seriously thinking about getting:

Link to auction

It meets my requirements, being:

1) Sub $200
2) Nitro Powered
3) kinda cool looking
4) ready to run with radio and everything

I don't know if the 4WD is more trouble than it's worth since a lot of the higher end ones seem to be 2WD. It's got a .15 motor in there, which seems like an average size. I found a guy with a DuraTrax Maximum ST, but I don't know what is included other than the truck... Would that be a better bet if it's RTR?

Thanks for the advice!

Do a Google search and you will find very little on this buggy (not a truck). What I did find indicates it is made in China and that's about it. The ad says that it is 90% parts-compatible with other brands. I find this VERY hard to believe. Each manufacturer makes/designs their parts differently.

I have had 2-3 nitro trucks and they were great but have moved into electrics because of how messy nitro can be.

The bottom line is what is the worst that can happen? You lose your bid + shipping costs. If you are really that "poor" then this may be the way to go but you get what you pay for. If this thing actually works it will go ver fast and will prob break quickly. The ability to get replacement parts is key.

Good luck

Thanks for the info, dud. I tried googling that model and didn't come up with much of anything. One of the guys at work has an electric RC10 that is probably about 6 years old or so. Would that be a better bet in your opinion? It's not that I'm horribly poor, but the wife gave me a $200 or so limit, which probably isn't bad since this is one will be a starter for me.

I may get with the seller and try to get more info, if thye can provide any about the engine and drivetrain. You are probably right about needing to be able to get replacement parts, so I'll see what I can find with that. Any experience with the DuraTrax or any other models that I should avoid or look for?

edit, that's not the exact auction I was looking at. He has one with a BIN of something like $170 that supposedly includes everything you need to get going. That's what I was looking at.

I have a Traxxas 2.5 Rustler and rather enjoy it. I would save your money and buy something quality like.

Yea, I might do that. It's not an issue of saving money... The wife says no more than $200 so no matter what I do it's not going much past that :(

Every now and then I see a used RC10 go for around $200 on eBay with a radio and everything. You think that would be too much of a headache to go used like that?

EDIT - Found a guy on another forum selling a DuraTrax Maximum ST for $150 ready to run... I'm thinking that may be a better option than the generic one. Parts would be easier to come by and whatnot, and it looks really clean and well cared for. Any opinions on this model?
