J.Simpson probably tested at 80 and her mother thought you're supposed to double it for some reason or other. Whoever parented that moron can't be much over 80 themselves, so no use conjecturing on why she felt it needed to be doubled. For that matter, she may have tested at 70 and her mother was unable to properly multiply that number by two ;)

Hey bradruth, I found out your IQ!!

J/K

100 to 111 - 50% - 1 in 2 above 100 - 12th-Grade to College Degree - Police officer, machinist, sales

I've seen that a few times before, and it briefly made me wonder if I was aiming low since I've scored in the 140s on IQ tests. Then I realize how much I love the job and that I can't imagine doing anything non-LE. I'll gladly give up $$$ for happiness.

Self tested or pro-tested? Usually one with an IQ in the 140's understands a solid gold handgun will not work. I think you wanted one in another thread.

One of the P.I.T.'s did.

I've met a few before, and yeah...elitist bastards, for the most part. The test itself didn't seem that hard, I would've passed "pretty" easily, and I imagine that a good number of people here would make it.

If you took that response seriously perhaps you should have a few things tested.

I got out of it after a few years.

Yeah, you can get the same thing here for free. :p

It's not being Mensan that makes one a snob. Most intelligent people are snobs anyway.

If I get time I may have it administered professionally.
Well, I can see the advantage of being in it with respect to career.

I might rejoin when I graduate. I don't know if I'll have to take the test again. IIRC they are expensive.

It's in retaliation for most stupid people being snobs.

I'm not so sure about this. From what I've seen, inteligent people tend to not be snobs. They're smart enough to know they aren't so special and don't know it all. Usually it's the not so inteligent people (dumb..... to be blunt) that are the most snobbish. They're too stupid to see their own failings and think they're above everyone else.

It's not that simple. It's not a matter of "how dumb" or "how smart" you are. It's a matter of some people having a distorted view of themselves and others.

You can be either intelligent or dumb and still have a distorted sense of self and other mental problems.

Not to mention the different types of intelligence out there. You can be a conniving, cunning "street smart type" or an idiot savant that can do complex math without batting an eye but yet gets duped into buying an extended warranty at best buy (yes I know for some items its worth it, put a sock in it)

Depends if about $30 to 75 is expensive to you. Some can be higher....depends on who you see. Many psych's have fees computed for Mensa exams. There are a lot of parents pushing these on 'Little Johnny, he is such genius'

Like I said previously, my former roomate is in Mensa. He was definately the type to brag about it. One time we got into an arguement about how a database table should be laid out, which he knew nothing about, but he decided to say "2%!" I was ready to punch him.

My sister is also in Mensa, she's always been one to be better than everyone else at everything.

Finally, I was watching People's Court one day, and this woman who was the plaintiff decided for whatever reason to tell the room "I'm in Mensa, I know what I'm talking about!" She lost the case hardcore, for being stupid.

In conclusion, Mensa dont mean sh!t other than giving people that look down on you, another reason to look down on you.

Your logic in all this shows you'd never qualify. People look down on Bill Gates, Trump, Paris Hilton, etc...it's not because they are stupid or poor.

Most people claiming Mensa membership are not members. It's like people that try to claim they tested at 200 or 'something' for IQ. You either were tested and know your scores or were not. 160 is genius level btw and many claim that too usually in defense of an argument.

However, high IQ does not necessarily mean one can invent the next high tech deal or discover the cure for whatever. It shows a potential for being able to use knowledge learned plus inherently being able to decypher things and the way they work.

Many people can't take a 2D outline of a 3D shape and picture it. Doing so is just one qualifier for a higher IQ and doesn't = a high one.

Yep, I look down on Bill Gates because he's a thief. I look down on Paris because she's a whore, and Trump, I actually like him. But then again, I'd also never even try to qualify.

I know for a fact both my roomate and sister were members, due to the fact of all the crap Mensa mailed them. I cant be sure of the lady on people's Court though.

This is true.

I'll be the first to admit, I cant do that at all.

How high do you need to score on the SATs?

I remember that WombatWoman was an advocate of Mensa. I've thought about joining, but I know I wouldn't get very involved and it would end up being a waste of money.
