Anyone here heard of or actively use BeatMyPrice?

A friend of mine just sent me this link. I've been goofing around with it for a few minutes. Seems interesting.

Does anyone here use this? Ever heard of it? I'm going to google for pos/neg about the site. If anyone can beat me to finding reviews or feedback, that would be awesome.

Hmm... this is very interesting idea. I'm in the market for a few expensive things so I'll give this a try.

UPDATE: Gave it a try. Search is fast, lots of results. Some of the sites I've never heard of before so I'm a bit skeptical of them. A lot of the results seem to be from eBay which is meh. I'm digging the whole design/Web 2.0 feel of the site though, very nice.

Seems like a cool concept if it gets enough traffic. Only trouble is YMMV deals and such, but otherwise it's a decent alternative to searching FW and SD forums.

Just don't make a typo when entering the URL, no one wants to end up at www.beatmyprick.com

Messed around on it for awhile a couple of days ago, happened to see an ad for it on retailmenot.com. I guess the sites are run by the same people

Hmm, I searched for LN46B650 at varying prices, found one for $1199 from a website I've never heard of. Funny thing, if I type in 800 bucks (unrealistic) I get a website that doesn't exist but that has magically "beatmyprice".

When I did that, I got a website selling it for 800 but the site is ".com" and none of the links from BMP actually work for that result.

However, it did return a 2nd result here.

Yeah, that site doesn't seem legit at all. Their only contact methods are an email address and a "live chat". I put "live chat" in quotes because there's no guarantee that someone will actually reply.

this site is pure trash man. half the links are probably scams, the others are just ebay. don't give the guy ad/search revenue

And what if the object you're looking for comes up in ebay and you're willing to use ebay?

I'm not defending the site, but reviews like this are just as worthless as they charge the site as being.

I use PriceWatch all the time and I find sites on there almost exclusively that I have never heard of and wouldn't trust. I just don't buy from them. I skip down to the real results, just like BMP for several things I've gone searching for.

I haven't found many concrete reviews either negative or positive about BMP, either. It seems pretty new.
