Right now i have the TV Wonder VE, the cheaper version, and to connect the sound, theres a soundoutput on the card and i just plug the cable from there into the audio input of the soundcard, is this the same way for the audio on the TV Wonder? also, the TV Wonder has the ooption to record in mpeg-1 mode, about how big are the video's? The TV Wonder VE i have now can only record in avi format, and for about 45 seconds of video its alreayd 60 mb..

thanks

I have the TV wonder and it has connections on the outside and inside. They prefer outside though, but I have mine connected internal because I didnt want one more cable on the back of my already croweded backend. As for your question it works both ways.

Now for Mpeg1 compression you set it in teh setup portion. I capture at 320x240 and its pretty good. Any higher capture makes the file size too big. Also reduce the number of colors if you got that option. One reason why I capture at 320x240 is because standard NTSC is 480xsomething and capturing at 640x480 will be blurry.

Anyway best is to try and see which is best for you..

Just got my TV wonder from buy.com for $70 shipped. Not the hottest deal, but I had 30 bucks worth of credit from my buy.com visa..so...

Anyway, sound output is the same for both cards, but some of the TV Wonders have a breakout box that runs from the back of the card to up on your desktop or wherever you want to put it. The breakout box has rca type audio, video , and s-video inputs, in addition to the regular connections on the card itself. The mpeg compression is great. You can control the size of your mpeg captures depending on what quality settings you use. My files are between 10 -20 megs /minute depending on my settings. Nice card so far. I'm putting some old VHS crap onto CD with it.
