I've been feeling the need to get certified lately (a coworker recently got fired, which has me musing about how F'd I'd be if it were to happen to me), and server+ seems to be the way to go if I wanted to continue in my life as a data center technician... anyone have any suggestions for which books to buy or courses to look into, though?

I know the basics about what the cert is about, but don't really have any kind of appreciation for how difficult it might be, since I've never even bothered getting A+.

This should also be a wake up call to build up a few months worth of living expenses in a high-interest savings account for emergencies.

Work is a bit less stressful if you know you can keep paying the rent while you look for a better job.

A+ has me wondering if I should even waste my time on it, since it's got basically nothing to do with my job.
