Anyone here have an Epson CX5400?

Does the printer seem to recognize that you're using a generic cartridge and display a message that you have to OK before you can print?

Also, does the printer print out "streaks" once you use the generic ink?

My printer all of a sudden decided to print streaks out once I switched to the generic ink. I doubt it's the ink because the print out stopped after printing one page because the printer was out of ink. I then proceeded to replace the ink, and replace it with a generic cartridge, and voila...it printed streaky. I'd hate to have to switch back to genuine Epson ink just to get a decent printout because they're 3-4x more expensive than a generic...

Anyone get the same problem with generics? Anyone know of any generics that might overcome this?

I had an Epsonj and had a similar problem with Gen inks. finally it broke and I bought a $75 Canon. Beautiful printing and fairly cheap ink.
I would suggest buying a couple of different Gen inks. Or look for a Forum on Printers (see what has worked for others). Or unfortunately go get the Epson cartridges.....
Sorry I couldnt be more help
