Do any AT'ers out there have A+ who can provide any information about it? Your thoughts on it? Hard or easy? Best way to study? :) I'm thinking about getting one.

Got it, SUPER easy. Dont study, the IRQ questions are all of 1 question. Dont waste your money. Its 15 minutes and $300 I'll never get back. Oh, and got the network + as well.

Well I'm trying to get a better idea of what required for that. Oh my employer is going to reimburse me if I pass. So all I have to do is make sure I pass. :)

The employer wants it. I want an excuse to ask for more money. So there go. Does anyone have it? Or have tips? Should I buy a book? Are there any online resources? TIA. :D

If an employer needs it (in a lot of tech jobs, this is a must) you should get it... and it doesn't look bad on a resume anyway that's for sure...

Anyway - It is super easy, but I would recommend reading over a few example questions or so just to get the idea of what to expect... The software test is a little harder then the hardware, and you must complete both tests to become certified.

I completed both tests in about 20 minutes - so that gives you an idea how difficult they are...

I would not spend the money on a book to learn it that's for sure... if you really want too - you could look for an A+ brain dump on Google and just answer the questions on your own... that will tell you exactly what kind of questions there are and everything... but a brain dump is just what some other person remembers the question to be - so don't take it for an exact replica of the test... It wont be.

Overall it is a very easily obtainable certification that will definitely not hurt you in the future... I'd go get it again if I didn't already have it...

Depending on your job - a basic MCP is a good cert to get as well... You can get that just by passing one Microsoft exam.

If you have some specific questions you can send me a PM if you want...

If work is paying for it, def get it.

My work paid for a week long class for me (which I slept/surfed the net through).

I took the tests for half price during the MS TechEd conference in Orlando. Spent about 2 hours before each test reading through the Cramsession guides and the Mike Myers Passport series book I got.

Passed both no prob.

i disagree that it was super easy. it was moderately difficult. i say that because you're not going to memorize beep codes and IRQs and every little file that corresponds to bootup and all those things unless you study. a book is good. exam cram was what helped me.

Might as well get it, what could it hurt. Sure the information that it requires to know isn?t the most difficult stuff out there. But it also shows your employer, or future employer that you can and will set goals for yourself and will achieve them. I bet that most of these people on here that say its useless don?t even have theirs, so go figure.

I had to get my A + for my job as a computer repair tech, my job paid for it and I passed, it's pretty easy, but then again, "easy" is all in the mind of the testtaker. There are lots of debates over whether certs are worth it, but, bottom line, it's one more thing to differentiate you from everyone else, it's free for you, which is really cool, so take as many as you can!!! And you can probably ask for a raise!
