anyone here have a t1?

At the office we have a T1 for $800 a month. We got an exceptionally good deal on it.

10 cable, 10 DSL costing 400-500/month could get you much more speed then T1
3.0/384= 30mbps/3.84mbps
1.5mbps is pathetic IMHO, the only plus is symetrical speed.

Technically we actually own 6 T1s although only one gets us to the internet. We need the guaranteed symetrical speed. Occasionally getting bumped down to 512mb just won't cut it for us.

That's the key, DOWN not UP. Plus do you always and I mean always get 1.5mbps down, or occasionaly do you get less than that?

That's why you get Symmetrical DSL!
SDSL, rather than ADSL.

I find downstream far more important. I never upload large files.... ever. I have no need to. Give me 40 megabit downstream and 14 kilobite upstream. I don't give a damn.

You would if you had 14 KB upstream. Want to attach something to an e-mail? Hold on, that'll be about 10 seconds. There are just too many corner cases where that just won't cut it. Sure, it'll be fine 99.5% of the time, but when it IS a problem, it will be a big annoyance.

If he wants T1, most likely he wants to run his own server.
I run an ftp server and 384 is fine for me, it might get a tad slow when 3 people is downloading at once.
But I'd definitely take 1.5/1.5 over 3/384

How much are local loop access charges? Anyone know about that? If I had that figure then I could get a better idea of total cost.
