The razor scooter was a hit when it came out about two years ago. Back then, it was about $100 a piece.

Now a days, I can get one for $30-40 and I'm thinking about buying one for making my way between classes and car.

Is it something that works well for this kind of purpose?

11/19/03: After about two weeks of almost daily use to and from classes, rain and shine, the bearings are going south.

if where you are planning on using it is smooth and level then definetly they will make transportation a lot faster than walking. but you might look a bit funny.

hmm, there are a lot of guys using a skateboard to do the same task and my guess is razor will do fine anywhere skateboard works.

I'd use a skateboard if I wanted to look better, but unfortunately, I can't skateboard.

It'll probally be useful for getting to and from class.

You'll look pretty stupid on it though. Its an older fad for pre-teens. Not college students.

Though, if you're still interested, check out Sharper Image's Electrical Scooter.

i bought one when it came out several years ago, it had springs on the front wheel for a suspension system. i used it twice. mostly because i feel embarassed as hell on riding it on campus. now its sits folded up in my closet.

I found the razor appealing, because I can quickly fold it up and carry it into classroom, toss in the corner in the dorm room and throw in back of the car.

It's only six pounds.

The college fad 4 years ago. Quickly died, and rarely ever seen anymore..

Never got one myself, but did try my friends a few times. I think it serves its purpose well. Won't help your image much, but if you don't mind that more power to you.

People in college nowadays with razor scooters seem a bit too dorky...
My friends and I just laugh at them. Even if it does make your traveling time faster... its one of those things that you just dont use anymore.

I picked one up at Wal-Mart. It's not exactly efficient and it's more tiring than I thought :disgust:

It rides nice and smooth in the dorms basement, but the ride is absolute crap on anything rougher than a smooth sidewalk.

It doesn't exactly have Mcpherson struts/shocks and Yokohama tires, so whad'ya expect with no suspension hard plastic wheels? 🙂

I would recommend a real, motorized, scooter.. not one of those little pieces of garbage.

It doesn't handle uneven surfaces well at all. It's only got as much clearance as a seriously riced out lowered Honda..

It hasn't been a month and the bearings are already going :disgust:
The rear wheel makes funny noise now.

Maybe this toy isn't made to withstand daily usage on campus.

Everyone is so damn concerned about it being a fad, "looking stupid", etc.

If you want one, get one. Who gives a shat what other people think.
