anyone here have a pet for a major portion of their lives?

When I was 3 we started getting cats, and when I was 4 we got this cat Gage, and eventually we had 4 cats in this one 'batch' as my mom put it (Gage, Tom, Tab, The Kit; son of tom and tab). We'd have a few others, but they met with unfortunate ends along the way 🙁. We always had these 4 though, and then as I got older one by one they passed away, then on Nov 6 of 2004, the last one, Tom (he was actually the 2nd oldest behind Gage) passed away. I took his death the hardest, because I missed him, but also because for the first time since I was 4 there were no cats from this batch anymore..that was 17 of my 23 years on Earth...anyone else have anything like this?
 
In WoW, I had a parrot, a snowman, and a rudolph the rednosed reindeer. I cherished mine while all the other greedy bastards were AHing their gifts from santa like they were nothing.
 
I had a cat "Caesar" from 1988 to 2001, he was part of the family and I really took it hard (so did the rest of my family) when we had to put him to sleep because of reoccurring cancer that just couldn't be removed anymore.

I still miss him to this day even though I have two cats now that are 7 months old.
 
I didn't get to have pets growing up. Now I have 2 cats. I've had them both for about 8 years. One is about to die... Probably anyway, we figure she is around 14yrs old.
