What are you smut-peddlers storing on your HDs?

Games and music, mainly. Average game now is a few gb, and while 128bit mp3s might be small, higher bitrates and especially lossless can eat up space like you wouldn't believe. Also need a lot of space for video editing.

6 drives - 970 GB - 234.8 GB free.

The Maxtor 250GB drive has HDTV movies (transport stream files). No pron. 😉
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY WHAT IS ON THEM!?!!!

LOL. 🙂

Here's the breakdown...

80GB - Windows XP & Programs. Freeware/Shareware/Trial-software downloads.
120GB - MP3 - sorted by genre/artist/album title. Took awhile to rip them with audiograbber & other programs. Downloads of too hard to find songs. Mostly 254/320 kbps bit-rate. Very convenient when I feel like playing a particular song/artist. Sounds great on my Logitech Z5300 speakers.
160GB - Video captures. mpg/avi format. Mostly T.V. episodes. Top Gear, Penn& Teller. Some are downloads and mostly are captures with my TV tuner card.
250 GB - HDTV - 720/1080i format. TS format. Captured with a Motorola HDTV box (Comcast HD) via Firewire. Looks great on my Dell 2100FP LCD.
160GB - DVD backups in ISO format. I mount them with Daemon when I want to watch.
200GB - Still empty - Probably fill it up with more video/dvd.

The nice thing is, I can share the files with the 2 other systems I have over the network.

Surprised that it takes a lot of space. Once in a while (when I feel like it), I back up all the data on DVD+R/DVD-R media. I have about 250 blank DVD+-R from Hot deals.

Thanks for the break down but you forgot the pron part, or is that the DVD backups? 🙂

I picked up the SATA Maxtor 300GB w/16MB cache about a month and a half ago. Very nice fast and quiet drive.

So hard drives I have
300GB SATA
160GB SATA
160GB PATA connected via firewire
100GB PATA
60GB PATA
2 27GB PATA

Total - 834GB (about 600GB is used)
