yes
it was covered under normal insurance as a doctor visit i think
they gave me a tiny shot of something and i didn't feel anything, he sliced it right off with a scalpel in the doctor office

i don't think there is a scar, it is on my back/shoulder so i cannot see it

I did, don't remember how much it cost cause my parents' insurance paid for it. I don't remember it hurting very much, just the prick for anesthesia. It looks like a freckle on my skin now.

Why does insurance cover it? Does it only cover it if they are worried it is possibly skin cancer? I was thinking about getting this gross mole on my neck removed. I really hate it. If it's "free" that would be great!

Here's my story about a couple moles I had..

I had 3 moles for a long time and they never bothered me at all. One was more like a flap of skin hanging there so I went to the Dermotologist to have him look at them.

He looked at them and said they looked fine and weren't in danger of being cancer or anything like that, but said that if they were annoying me and I wanted them off, it wouldn't be a problem to remove them. I said I'd probably want them taken off just because one was on the back of my neck and got nipped here and there when getting my haircut. One was on my stomache and looked weird, etc.

He said OK and that he'd be right back. I thought he was going to schedule me for a return trip to have them removed. Nope, he came back in with scalpels and syringes. 5 minutes later I had no more moles. I didn't even have time to realize what was going on beacuse I totally wasn't expecting him to just do them right there.

But I don't think I have any scars really. Was no pain except for the shot of numbing stuff. Then he just took the scalpel and cut them off. Was just covered by normal insurance. But if not, it shouldn't be much because it literally takes 30 seconds.

yeah i had a big one one the back of my neck. it had hair growing out of it and started to bleed so i went in. the doctor told me to lay down (wich got me excited because she was cute!) but then put the paper over me.

she stuck it with a needle. i could feel her pulling on teh skin etc and she cut it out. she then stiched it up.

the problem i had is the stiches poped loose that night. When i went into the doctor the next day (with a open wound all night) they cleaned it best they could and removed the stiches. they said the could reclose it but there would be risk of infection and would be better to let it heal as it was. So i have a 1/4th inch scare on teh back of my neck now =( heh i had pictures of it also!

I have a mole on the top of my head, has anyone had one of *these* removed? Did they have to cut a patch of hair off around it?

I had one on my lip... went to the dermantologist and they numbed my lips, cut it and used some machine to seal it, looked like some type of electric.

Had one on my back, removed to years ago. Local shot, didn't feel a thing. No idea if there is a scar or mark of any kind though, it was on the middle of my back. Probably is though, it was accomplished by a 1LT.

I had a big mole on the middle of my back removed. This was when I was in middle school I think, I didn't pay for it. It didn't hurt at all, but I do remember it sounded weird when they were cutting and sewing it closed. They had to cut fairly deep because they thought it could have been something serious (it wasn't) and I have a fair sized scar there now. It was in the small of my back and since that area gets stretched so much it's not ideal for healing. The scar is probably an inch long and a quarter inch wide.

The mole i had was in between my anus and scrotum. It was about the size of a half dollar and was infested with hair follicles. It was very painful after the procedure, i couldnt walk or do anything. I believe the dermatologist vomited in his mouth during the procedure.

Well, when we found out he was leaking information about our secret organization in ATOT, we had to have him "removed". It left some emotional scars because some of the people in ATOT were attached to him. :p

Wife had 2 of 'em removed - same story as people here. One was on the side of her face and it's still early but the scar is basically a small red mark where the mole used to be. Hers was more of an outpatient surgery deal-eee-yo but same story - local anesthetic followed by scalpel. Didn't feel a thing.

I had a "skin tag" removed from my side right about at the underwear line. The doc shot it, pulled it, snipped it ---> bandaid, right there in the office with my coat still on. Small red mark remains.

My brother-in-law had a skin tag and while he pulled on it, a friend of his tied it off with some fishing line and it fell off a few days later. His friend was from Arkansas I think and said that's how they do it down on the farm with the pigs and whatnot. Good times.

I have a small to medium sized mole on my nose, I've never really thought much about it because it's always been there, but in recent years I've been thinking it might be good to get it removed. I doubt insurance would cover it unless I said it was a cancer risk. I haven't been to a dermatologist before, but there's a first time for everything.

I had one on my upper shoulder towards the neck. It wasn't too big but very noticable. I went to the dermotologist, and she didn't even numb the area. She took a knife and sliced it right off. Then she burned the wound closed and there is no scar there!

I had one removed on my neck that was skin cancer but they removed all the bad stuff. Had some more removed from my chest and leg. No scars, just do what they say and all will be well. Didn't have to pay as I was military.
