Dude, I think we need someone to DEFINE vasectomy here. It's already been done, but let's make it blatantly obvious.

NOTHING IS GETTING CUT OFF. A little tiny piece inside gets snipped - think of it as the runway for your bombers - and with the runway cut off, no bombers, no problems. You get to keep all your equipment.

From what I understand the process is reversible. There should be no need to donoate sperm.

Jesus I thought you kids knew something. A vasectormy -

1) snips a little narrow pathway where sperm mixes with the semen
2) nothing gets cut off
3) you still ejaculate with 97% of your initial 'volume.' you can't tell the difference, at all.

Not that I know through experience. But I just thought this was common knowledge.

I beg to differ. In some ways, yes it's easier to handle boys, but girls do mature ealrier and tend to make better decisions. There's nothing like having your son announce at dinner:" My GF is pregnant, she's moving in with us, and I will be dropping out of school to work full-time". It's all in the parenting if you ask me.

I had a few friends who feel it's a good thing as well. For sure it's easier for the guy to do it than the girl. For those who don't know anything about it, your balls are still in place:)

Its no big deal.

20 minutes in surgery, a weekend of laying on the couch w/ an icepack on your nads.

The incisions they use now are so tiny that its practically a non-event. You may have some bruising and tenderness for a week or two, but nothing really bad.

same here, they didn't even use a scalpel, they just puntured the sac with special scissors. the incision is so small they don't need to use stitches afterwards. it's nothing.

Did you really have to say "punctured the sac?" I'm going to have bad dreams now because of you.

sorry. I forgot the best part...My urologist prescribed sex everyday for 15 days (after 3 days healing) to eliminate all sperm from my body, best two weeks of my life.. And besides, the freedom you experience not worrying about pregnancy makes for a more willing partner ;)

but doesn't orgasm feel good when sperm is actually exiting your penis? Through vasectomy, wouldn't you lose that sensation?

someone please elaborate on this.

I think you still ejaculate and have semen and everything, just no sperm within that semen. I wonder if you'd even be able to tell the difference? (Maybe I'm wrong but hopefully not!)

Nope you can't tell the differance. I was in and out of the Dr's office in less than 1/2 hour. You can feel them messing with your stuff if you have a high tolerance for pain medication. I had to ask for another shot since it felt like someone was crushing my (you get the picture). Depending on how your doc does it you may smell burning. Some docs still coterize the ends.

If I had to do it again I would. Lot less painfull and less complications involved than getting tubes tide.
Not to mention that the 3 days after were nice just sitting around.

It is correct. there is no discernable difference. Everything (post procedure) is identical except your semen does not contain spermatazoa.

And as far as the procedure itself is concerned, I received 2 valiums for anestesia(sp?), no shots. A local was used on the area that was punctured. I was home in 1 hour.

(and if you wonder where they go, since their exit is missing, they are absorbed by the body)

This is what I want to know. If it can definately be reversed, Ive been thinking about getting this done sometime in the near future. If it can't I'm not so sure, as I can't say for sure I wont want another child somewhere down the line. I just get really tired of using condoms after being exclusive with someone, and I know from experience that girls and birth control is a big friggin joke.

The worst part for me was when they gave me the local painkiller. Getting an injection in your nuts is not fun. It feels kinda funky, and for me kinda hurt. The doctor said I must have felt more pain then most, as most dont have too much problem with it. But it sure made my stomach hurt.
Anyways, afterwards aint bad either. The first few days, as long as you dont move your golden. Just lay on the couch and watch TV all day. Good stuff.
I ended up gettin my gusto back a bit early. Day 4 me n the wife tried it out. Wait a full week!!

On the whole, I would say unpleasant, but certainly bearable.

So, basically, you have sperm swimming around in your body?

You are way too funny!

One more thing: Yes, you still ejaculate. The sperm itself is only a tiny, tiny percentage of what's in semen. Most of the fluid is produced elsewhere, namely by the prostate gland. You keep all the good feeling, and it even still looks the same when it, umm, comes out.

It is a 50/50 chance of being reversed. And insurance will not cover the cost. My understanding is the cost of having it reversed is around $10K. Had mine done back in Sept. and it has been the best thing ever since. I have not noticed any difference in the deed nor has my wife. I have two kids and my wife had a tubal pregnancy on the third. It made the decision a lot easier.

My dad got one...he said it was no big deal...on a werid side note, a local minister got one, then a few years later his wife managed to have a kid, and the kid was actually his...can you say mal practice.

The doctor clearly states there is a chance of it growing back.

A friend had it done. One of his boys swelled up to the size of an orange. He was in a lot of pain for two plus months, until he had surgery to fix it.

He was dumb though, he let the family doctor do it, rather than a urologist.

Had mine done after our 2 kids and it was well worth it. Simple procedure that took no time. The worst part of the whole thing was before the doc did his thing. My wife wanted to be in there, so she is sitting next to me, I am laying on the table with nothing but a shirt on. The technician strolls in and while he is prepping me (holding my member in his hands) he has a conversation with my wife :Q Not cool :|

I guess it could have been worse, a female technician would have....

No, the ends of the tubes are sealed, so the sperm stay contained and die off/regenerate as usual.
