I will be 29 in two months and just had my 2nd daughter. I am sure my 2 girls are more than enough for me and with today's society, two children is perfect. My wife won't get her tubes tied so I want to do this. I am really really really scared though. Just had my orientation last Thursday where they kind of tell you what to expect.

Hahah watch you end up like that guy who had a vasectomy, then had it reversed, then had it again :D

I am very sure that two kids is good for me.
Two girls means, two weddings, two college tuitions, two cars, two prom dresses, etc...

Its no big deal.

20 minutes in surgery, a weekend of laying on the couch w/ an icepack on your nads.

The incisions they use now are so tiny that its practically a non-event. You may have some bruising and tenderness for a week or two, but nothing really bad.

Stallion did, a while back. You could probably find the thread by searching the archives.

I had one in '74 and it was no biggy then. Just a little cut, snip and a stitch.. not a painfull thing, IMO. The shaving was the hard part. But, she was a cute nurse, as I remember... I was embarrased, not her.

Best way to go. IMO

My English teacher in HS had one. He said "it feels as if you were kicked in the nuts a few times." I wonder if that means that the pain goes away in half an hour.

It is the most effective method of birth control when you and your spouse have decided that you are done having kids. It is much less envasive than a tubal ligation. Also it is a healthier alternative than other contraceptive methods, considering the controversy on the benefits/downsides of birth control pills, norplant, depo-provera, etc.

If you are really concerned that you may want more kids, consider making a hearty deposit at a sperm bank, if you have the cash.

Me, for the exact same reason... 2 kids is plenty. And, it's much much easier for the husband to get a vasectomy than for the wife to get her tubes tied.. It was done as outpatient surgery... I was in and out of the hospital in about 3 hours. It's not a big deal at all (and isn't getting your balls removed as suggested by someone earlier in the thread..) They just snip the vas deferens, and a good doctor will tie or staple both ends to avoid reattachment. They'll give you plenty of good drugs so 1. you don't feel a thing... 2. you feel really really good. I'd be an addict if I knew what those drugs were :) I don't even recall needing an ice pack, nor did I bother with the tylenol with codeine... (just used regular tylenol once or twice) you'll get the best treatment in your life for 2 or 3 days, so really play it for all it's worth... exagerate any pain... your wife will wait on you hand and foot, getting anything you need. Well, almost anything... I doubt she'll go for the "kiss my booboo." And, look forward to never needing to use a condom the rest of your life!

btw, my condolensces on having two girls..... I was blessed with two boys. I don't have to worry about "you've ruined your life", or "you did what with who?!" or "it's 3 am, where have you been" or.... At least, I don't have to worry as much as a father of a daughter has to worry.

same here, they didn't even use a scalpel, they just puntured the sac with special scissors. the incision is so small they don't need to use stitches afterwards. it's nothing.

Did you really have to say "punctured the sac?" I'm going to have bad dreams now because of you.

No, but let me know how it goes. I've been thinking about getting one.

does this mean you'll never ejaculate anymore?

but isn't orgasm related to feeling good when sperm is actually exiting your penis? Through vasectomy, wouldn't you lose that sensation?

someone please elaborate on this.

Cutting you're guys buddies off isn't right. He has his own soul, you have to ASK HIM FOR PERMISSION to do such a horrible thing.

I kinda want to have one so I don't have to worry about having kids... My girlfriend is on the pill and I use condoms and it still freaks me out if her period is a day late - one of the worst feelings in the world. It'd be nice to dontate some sperm and have them frozen for the future and then be able to hump away without fear.

I think you still ejaculate and have semen and everything, just no sperm within that semen. I wonder if you'd even be able to tell the difference? (Maybe I'm wrong but hopefully not!)
