Cool, my family lives in Prospect Heights, I'm in the city right now.

Back to the main issue, I'm not sure if there is much in Rockford thats really fun or high quality. Althought I bet it would be dirt cheap to live there, but you'd be stuck in a not too nice area.

Cool. You're pretty close. I won't be back in Palatine for another 2 weeks though. I miss suburbia 🙁 Nowheresville, IN is nothing compared to the burbs of Chicago. Indy is pretty nice though 🙂

I haven't been to Rockford in about 3 years so I'll take everybody else's word for it on whether it's a decent place to live or not.

Keep the info coming!

Don't they have magic waters??? I think that is about the only thing that I can remember that is commonly associated with rockford.

Actually there are some really nice area's of the town. The cost of the houses are really cheap. But they have really high taxes.

Not much in IL to know outside Chicago and its suburbs. Might annoy the people in Peoria, Rockford, Springfield, wherever, but without Chicago this state is just Iowa.

B-N would be a nice town if they hadn't planned so poorly with Veterans Parkway. Good GAWD is that a mess. It ruins the entire town.

BTW, I'm in Cham-bana. Champaign is nice, Urbana is a slum and a perfect testament to what anti-business liberalism leads to.

Chicago is the main reason why we are the only Midwestern state with the most draconian gun-grabbing laws imaginable. Wisconson can have it.

I'm looking for some first hand info on Rockford IL. anyone from there?

EDIT: just looking for some opinions of the town, what's it like, businesses and such

I live in a Dekalb that is just south of rockford but i used to live there.

Well the town is nice. IF you chose the right area to live. houses are cheap but the taxes are really high. not to mention the public school system is crap. I would NOT have my kids go to school there.

The businesses are great. you have a really good mall on the eastern side of town. Its really in a small town called cherry valley but close enough.

hey! i live in sycamore!

I used to live in Champaign, IL for a while ( wasting my time in Grad School at the U of I) and now I am in CT.
I once interviewed with a company in Rockfordat 9 AM . The next day I had another job interview at Libertyville (North of Chi)at 10 AM. On day one, while returning from Rockford, drove around the area to 'get to know it' Spent the night at the rest area near Kankakee on 57. On day two, after the interview, spent the rest of the day exploring the 'burbs. Nice places.

All this talk about Rockford reminded me of those wonderful days.......
