I consider any place where you tell someone "don't get lost at night" to be a warzone. Honestly, I haven't been to the nice areas of Detroit yet, so my frame of reference is limited. If anyone could tell me where the "good Detroit" is, I'd be more than happy to give it a chance.

Ann Arbor rocks though. I love it here.

Another place worth mentioning is Royal Oaks. Everyone told me it's like Ann Arbor, only a little older. Seemed pretty expensive though.

I live in Commerce, the northwest end that borders Milford and White Lake.

That area is really beautiful. I'm definitely looking forward to Michigan in the Spring/Summer/Fall.

yea all 5 blocks of it. altho's it's not as bad as the scene depicted in robocop, or is it??

Farmington/ Novi's pretty nice, for schools, try either the Troy, Rochester, Sterling Heights area. Troy's a nice quite town, but thanks to the housing boom, the houses around the area got really expensive. I heard commerce township was pretty nice, one of the newer subs to the north, but not sure of schools.

Ann Arbor's nice too, if you like the semi college town atmosphere, but the traffic on I275, I696 mixing bowl gets really bad

edit: oops, forgot you had kids. ^^
