I got a letter from Italy, which appears to be a traffic ticket from my most recent visit. I thought about typing the whole thing into Google translate, but based on my past experience, I don't have much faith in getting an accurate translation.
If anyone would be willing to translate for me, I'd appreciate it.

Post it here or you could just ignore it. One of my uncles got a driving ticket in Spain 3 years ago. He threw it away and nothing has come of it since then. However, you may be compelled to pay this ticket should you ever enter the country again. Or, you could enter and then be detained in the airport if you try to leave the country with what amounts to a debt to the government.
 
I can read halfassed enough to make out a ticket.

If you had a rental car, don't worry, as they will bill your visa :awe:

I scanned to PDF and used a free service to convert to a document I could upload to google translate. The translation leaves much to be desired, but it was good enough to get the basics.
Apparently I was clocked doing 73 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. 😱
It looks like that is going to cost me about 50 Euro.

Now that I know it's not anything major or embarrassing, I sent it to a colleague in Italy to help me figure out what I need to do to take care of it. Ignoring it isn't a good option because there's a good chance I will need to go back on business. And from what I've heard, the police won't go to the rental car company to collect unless you ignore it, which would probably result in increased fines. So it's best that I just take care of it.

Go to Louisiana sometime. They'll do the same thing, at least in the area I spent a few days in.
People in the left lane were driving 1-2mph below the limit, whether it was a 35mph or 70mph zone. In the city, there was a police car or motorcycle stationed every few blocks, just waiting to catch speeders.
In PA, they don't really care if you're doing 5mph over the limit, unless it's a school zone. Even then....maybe.
On the highway: 10mph over might get their attention, if they're bored. >15mph over is getting into "pushing your luck" territory.
