I've heard he has a reputation for really bloody movies, how do they compare to say Tarantino films?

one would expect more replies in a thread about him then wouldn't they?

I think he's a little slow, he'll eventually reach the right conclusion sometime later today

audition I was really dissappointed with...it was really good but then it turned out the entire movie was setting up 1 torture scene and i felt very dissappointed by the ending...it was like he decided to have a torture scene and built the movie around it...i forget the specifics, but i know i was very dissappointed with the last 15 min to half an hour, before that it was really good

ichii the killer i heard a lot about and was crazy, but at times it was too crazy for me to know what was going on

edit: better movies if u havent seen them would be OldBoy (korean), or Memoirs of a Murder (also korean), or Battle Royale

almost forgot, i would also recommend Save the Green Planet! ...but u might want to turn it off 5 minutes early...it has the perfect ending, then has a second, not so good ending

i agree, the torture scene is really crazy and the movie is really crazy, i just didnt think he did a good job of putting it all together and therefor the movie as a whole suffered

one of the better torture scenes though

Those three movies are kiddie-fare compared to Miike's work, for the most part...Saw wasn't bad though. Miike also has a segment in "Three Extremes", which my local Blockbuster shockingly stocked 5 copies of, so it should be easily accessible to US people.

I took my friends to Ichi when a local theater had it on the big screen for a midnight showing...that was amusing :D
