The bandeja paisa is the Colombian food equivalent of paradise. First of all, be sure to eat in on an empty stomach. And I do mean it! The plate includes so much food that most people cannot even finish it. Don't even bother looking at the caloric content or the amount of fat in it. The mere mention of bandeja paisa will raise your cholesterol to unsafe levels. Oh, and don't add any extra salt, sauces, or any other extra ingredient, even though a couple of the ingredients might be too plain for some people (the avocado and the arepa). The only additional item to accompany a good bandeja paisa is a legitimate "Colombiana" soft drink: a champagne-flavored soft drink that adequately complements the dish.
Oh, and bonus points (reps, if you will) if a beautiful paisa waitress serves you the plate. Extra bonus points (reps, again) if she talks in the typical paisa accent, which sounds like true poetry.
