I did a few months ago. I had a 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 desktop.. I simply stopped using it, eventually gave the thing away. I don't think I'll ever go back.

The keyboard on my MacBook Pro is one of the best that I have ever used.

I also really like the MacBook's keyboard. I just hate that stupid sharp edge on the front :p

I have to agree with that. WTF??

Dell i9400...gaming laptop.

It's less ergonomic, but not a big deal. It is much more expensive though...

Same set-up here.

I'm seriously considering going to a laptop only setup with a docking station setup.
Lots of storage would be my only concern, but I figure I could just run a fileserver in the basement or something.

I just bought a hard drive and external case. 500gb of storage plus the 60gb that is on my laptop.

Yea I've been looking at thoes. How fast are the xfer rates on thoes? Do you even notice a difference?

Well you can probably find exact transfer rates for USB 2.0, but if I want to watch a movie or something I just click and it goes. Transferring only takes a few seconds. I wouldn't say it is anything that would really slow you down.

If you want to run programs off of it I don't have any experience doing that.

Back in undergrad I had a ThinkPad and dock with drive bay and PCI slot. Had a video card in there so could do multiple external monitors when docked, heh. I'd definitely recommend a dock over plugging in wires all the time. I was without one for a long time once and the power plug wore down and was very loose. Would fall out whenever I moved the thing.

I love my MacBook's keyboard and the "sharp edge" on the front doesn't really bother me. Heck, I didn't even notice it until you said something.

I've been laptop only for three or four years now. My "main" laptop has an external keyboard/mouse/display/DVD Burner so it's pretty much like using a SFF PC. My Thinkpad only has an external mouse and that's the one I use the most. No complaints really. :)

Yep, did that about 8 months ago. Sold the desktop and got a MacBook Pro. My wife has the apple and I have a Dell laptop. Absolutely love it.

LOL my circumstances were about the same.

My desktop mysteriously stopped working and I was too lazy to fix it. So I started using my Dell 700m as my main and only rig. It's been about 1.5 years and I'm getting tired of the small keyboard and 12.1" display. Plus I have a brand new Dimension E521 sitting in the kitchen, just need to upgrade RAM and video card then I'm good to go. Of course it's been there since November 2006. I'll get around to it one of these days.

I've gone completely laptop... still have plenty of desktops available incase I have an issue with my laptop or something, but I really don't feel the need for a desktop. 95% of what I do is not very intensive, outlook, winamp, etc.

My laptop can play CSS very well, which is the only game I play on ocassion, at 1440x900. I suppose I use Photoshop once a week, only resource that hogs is memory, and generally the 1Gb I have is plenty.

If I ever go back to a desktop, it's so I can have dual monitors run through DVI connections.

I have two laptops; a macbook and an old dell 600m that I'm considering giving to my mom. The macbook, however, has a place on my desk where it hooked up to the power, external lcd, & usb hubs that are hooked up to a wireless kb and mouse, laptop cooler, external hd, and printer. I have the macbook's screen open so I can use it as a secondary monitor.

I ha a laptop only throught medical school and it worked just fine. Then I got a desktop because I wanted to play games on it. Now I dfont play games on the computer much since I have a console so I kinda wish I had a laptop only again. Much more protable and takes up less space.
