I dropped out almost 30 years ago, got a job at GM, got into the apprenticeship program and became a die maker. Not much of that going on these days.

BTW-I did go back to school a few years ago and got a BB in Industrial Management.

I have a degree, and it hasn't helped me get where I want to be.

College is HIGHLY overrated these days, unless you plan on going to medical or law school--something specialized along these lines.

two of my close friends dropped out of college during their last semester of school 3 years ago. Neither of them have gone back.

one couldn't get housing his last semester, so he though he would take a semester off, unfortunately I asked him now and he said he has forgotten everything and can't finish his 3 upper level classes for his bio major. He works for his mom now at a laundromat she owns.

The other got a really good offer from the place he was interning at and took it because he didn't know when the job was going to have another opening. He needed 13 credits, he says he'll go back one day because the classes he had to take don't have any special requirements.

If so, what came about? Did you eventually get a good job? Are you thinking about dropping out?

I dropped out after having a panic attack during Spring finals 2004. Hadn't been back since. I want to go back this Spring, but I'm VERY hesitant. My grades were pretty much shameful, on a good day (didn't really care back then).

Working 40-50 hours per week is getting old to me, and I kinda want to go back....what should I do?

I dropped out. I fvcked around for a bit traveling and working sh!t jobs then when I got my girlfriend pregnant I ended up working 80+ hours a week to make ends meet... busting my ass landed me a good position where I've learned a lot and now I'm making enough to get by.

It was a long hardroad and I'm not very happy where Im at. Overcome your anxiety issue, stay in school and do what you love.

I have been in school for far too long. I do however recommend finishing what you started. I started school in 1995 and here it is ten years later and after several transfers, I have an Assosiates Degree of Applied Science Professional Pilot, and Liberal Arts.
I am currently working on a Bachelors of Aviation Sciences Management. I am then going to continue one more year for a Masters in Aerospace Sciences. I have a commercial pilot's license and plan to use that when I finish. I am pursuing the graduate degree for job security in case I lose my medical and am unable to fly any more. Don't give up. You will always regret not taking the extra time to finish what should provide a lifetime of decent jobs (or a single great job hopefully).

but, maybe you should get your panic attacks under control first.

I've only had 2, and both were around finals week.

I've heard from a lot of people that it's easier the 2nd time around, especially if you actually 'want' to be there.

I almost did. I took a semester off because I was burned out. Certain classes can suck the pleasure out of school. Out of all my classes, probably 3-4 were what I'd consider to be interesting. College can wear you down. That's evident when you see your classes start in the beginning with a full slate of students. By the end of the semester, half are no longer there.

I dropped out of college after 2 years in 2000.
I've been employed full time since then and I went from my old high school job as a pharmacy tech to Sr Pharmacy tech in 2000. In 2001 I got a position within the Help Center. In 2002 I got a promotion from C to B level. In 2003 I joined a pharmacy support position in the help center. In 2004 I got a position within second level support for the pharmacy servers. In 2005 I got a position as a Batch Admin.

I kinda got off to a slow start ... but I've been working my way up pretty decently.

I'm probably one of the lucky ones...

I dropped out of college after 2 years of a 4 year Computer Programming course... I got my butt in gear, studied on my own for my Microsoft/HP/CompTIA/etc. certifications and worked a crap ass job while saving money to pay for them... once I got my certifications I got a job as a computer tech at a very large corporation. After 1 year of work on the help desk I received my promotion and I'm now the IT Coordinator for Canada...

But if I had any advice for anyone at all it's stay in school and get that degree. I've already been hampered by not having that piece of paper, and I only see problems in the future for not having it...

So what's the OP gonna do here?

College is certainly running my mind dry, I feel like a dumb fvck. Working hard to get Bs and Cs. I don't want to quit because I know I'll regret it, however I simply do NOT have the time to work full time with all my schoolwork, but I need to work fulltime to pay for myself and to help my broke parents. So I'm torn.

I dropped out of college, now I work for myself. College isn't for everyone. If you're not one of the following, you probably won't survive if you drop out:

creative
smart
hard worker

I'm the first one. I'm definitely not the last one.
