anyone here contribute more than 10% to their 401k?

I used to do 10% when I had one. I put in 6, company matched to a limit of 3, so I put in an extra 1 to make the math easy.

my old company matched up to 15%, so i did that then.

my current company matches up to 8%, and I think I'm doing 10%.

I do 15%, my wife does 10% (but she makes twice what I do) and our company only matches up to 6%. So we are well above the minimums.

With our income levels I like reducing our taxible amounts when possible.

Mine used to match 3% ... I structured my contributions to max it out with their 3%.

They stopped Jan 1 ...

I still do the same ... so I come up a little short of max ... but still putting in a TON.

I do 15% because I work for a place (state of NV) where you are REQUIRED to put in 10% into a 401k (matched 100% 😀) as we don't have to pay SS taxes on our earnings and this is supposed to makeup for that.

just wondering if anyone really does that.

company does 6%. i'm thinking of upping it to 10%.

My company also matches up to 6% and I contribute 10%. I'm not eligible to contribute to an Roth IRA so, I contribute more to my 401k.

My company would match 50% on employees contribution up to 6% of their salaries. Meaning if I put 6% they match another 3% for a total of 9%. I used to put in 8% with 3% company match for a total of 11%, but decided to bring it down to a minimum of 6% because of recent 10% paycut and because I may need money in a year or two if I decide to continue my education.

Yeah, it was pretty awesome.

My current company is 50% of 8%, which is not nearly as good, but I also got a nice raise when I came here, so I suppose it canceled out somewhat.

Adjusted Gross Income

My company matches 75% up to 8%, so I do 8% -- but i'm still in college so there's plenty of room to go up when I graduate in may.

A coworker gave me a tip to add 1% each year when you get a raise.
I have done that the last few years and it is working well.

1% is not even noticeable, since it is pre-tax.

"my old company matched up to 15%, so i did that then."
"I do 20%. And my company gives me another 13%."

I'm jealous. Are those government positions?

My company does shit for matching so I contribute significantly above that amount. They only match a quarter of what you put in and only up to 5%, so the most you can get is 1.25% matching. And I'm putting in 10% of my income.

Still, I'm glad to have it at all. It's a non-profit so it's actually a 403b, not a 401k.

I do 10%. no clue what my company matches.

I try to put 10% into my 401K and 10% into savings (once I have enough in savings that I could live off it for 6 months, I plan on starting to invest any money above that)
