Wow, and I thought my "smokers are litterbugs" thread got a lot of hate mail going. The way I see it is it's a matter of CHOICE. If you can afford an SUV and either want or need one then buy it, there are no laws against it. The increased fuel cost is essentially a tax for the SUV owner (I should know I live in CT, the highest gas tax in the country). And to the people who think that SUV's cause high gas prices, go take an economics course. When refinery's cut their output by 25%, what do you think that does to the national fuel supply?
The people who piss and moan about SUV drivers being the only bad drivers on the road should realize that a bad driver is a bad driver is a bad driver, it doesn't matter what they drive. I have an Explorer (V8) and you wouldn't believe the number of Civics, Volvos, Saturns, pickups, vans, etc that I have to avoid day in and day out; you would think they could actually see a 4000 lb vehicle but nooooo.
If you really want to find out how bad the general driving public is, then go ride a motorcycle around for a while. You'll never want to leave the safety of your home again.
