Does anyone here age 20+ still use some kind of treatment to reduce/prevent acne? If so, what do you use? I never had terrible acne as a teen but I used benzoyl peroxide 10% then and still use it once per day now because it seems like I still get occasional zits on my face.

Is this normal? Should you still be getting occasional zits in your 20s and beyond? I just don't like using benzoyl peroxide because it can bleach sheets, clothing, etc.

I'm 32 and I use clearasil (10% bp) occasionally. There is no hope for me, I'll likely get zits when I'm 50. flippin' sweet.

It's normal for some. I get breakouts on occasion. I use a face wash and the wipey things afterward and that keeps it in check.

I had accutane from 19-20 and finished and have never really had much acne since.

I hope it stays that way (I am 22 now)

I've never taken anything for it...and it's usually not too bad, but I'm sick of the occasional pimple so I think I'm finally going to see a dermatologist and see what he says. No idea if insurance covers this sort of stuff though.

edit: I'm 27.

I'm 21 and my acne isn't really that bad but lifting exacerbates it (probably due to increase in testosterone / sweating like a pig). I use Benzaclin cream (Rx) once a day and that's about it. Other than the occasional light breakout life's good! And don't worry, its perfectly normal. I know friends and family members that cleared up at 22-23. What kind of BP do you use by the way? (And what I mean by that is what %, 2.5% is just as effective as 10% and it doesn't irritate skin as much, resulting in less breakouts and possibly less "bleaching" like you described.)

i used acutane when i was in late teens, it was all that helped. NONE of the over the counters did jack fvcking sh*t for me, I believe in fact that cleaning the face in general has no impact whatsoever on acne, it's all bullsh*t. acutane worked well, but its side effects are bad. it should be the last resort because it really is a nasty medicine for a lot of people, but it is at least a resort that has a very good track record if you get desperate enough.

Things I've found that help:
Showering as soon as possible after exercise.
Night time 2.5% benzoyl peroxide from here: http://www.danielkern.com (use as preventative care)
I also like their AHA+ cream
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

I just wear a white or grey t-shirt to bed and usually use the same as a pillow case. That way I don't have to worry about bleaching anything.

I use benzoyl peroxide most nights before going to bed. Don't have really bad acne, just the occasional minor pimples here or there, but I prefer to have a completely clear face if at all possible. I'm 28.

EDIT: I also switched to white t-shirts or crumby old gym shirts to wear to bed, and use white sheets too. You can find me in my white tee.

I've been using Clearasil daily face wash every day since high school. I don't know whether I would be prone to acne any more if I stopped using it, but I use it regardless because I love how fresh and clean it makes my face feel by getting rid of all the oils.
