i play poker at home sometimes and wanted to learn how to deal better. all of the dealers at the casino can flick the cards effortlessly at you with excellent accuracy. didn't know what i needed to do to be able to do the same (hand position, fingers, how to hold the cards, wrist action, etc.) thanks.

Think about it. Those dealers, what do they do for a living? Yes, that's right, they deal cards. There's something to that, somewhere, if you dig deep enough...

....or maybe there's just a rare gene that produces awesome card dealers, in which case you're probably screwed.

Hmm...how do I become a professional dancer?

Take a deck of cards, go to your kitchen. Set out 6 or 7 or 8 objects around the table in a vaguely circle-ish fashion. Sit down at your table. Deal to your left at each object, remembering a card for yourself each time. Deal until you have no cards left. Collect cards, repeat until comfortable.

Practice, practice, practice. Then practice some more.

If you are really serious, get some basic card sleight of hand books and learn all the appropriate mechanics (grip, lift, deal, etc.).
