Anyone here a back med specilist or studying to be one?

I have had a MRI done, 2 of them, 6 months apart and these terms are used and I like to get an idea as to what in the heck they mean.

The NP at the pain clinic I was seeing had told me last week that my results came in, and she had told me the only thing the report had said was there was nothing wrong, at all, with my back, and even my birth defect, spinal bifida occula (sp) had not even shown up, and all that she saw on the report was I had one disc in my lower back showing a small tiny sign of a disc that may be showing a sign of a disc starting to bulge. Yet I been in a ton of pain for the last 7 years or so in my back, down both my legs, and some time even goes into my nuts as if someone had kicked me, HARD, into them, and for the most part, the pain Im in is unbearable, and my back "pops" in and out of place, and "locks" up, and I have to force it to pop, which only make more pain for me.

But these are the terms used in BOTH of my most recent MRI on my back, lower back.

mild facet arthropathy and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy throughout the the lumbar spine

Mild Spinal Cannal Narrowing

Disc Desiccation

Moderately large right paracentral disc protrusion

diffuse component

Degernerative disc changes from l3-4 through L5-S1

Diffuse disc bulge

Right paracentral disc protrusion

Disk Desiccation L3-L4 through L5-S1

Broad Base Annular disc bulge

Mild Bilateral facet changes

Mild to moderate right, mild left neural forminal narrowing

Focal right lateral disc protrusion and annular fissuring in the right paracentral annulus

Occipital neuralgia

Cervicalgia

Peripheral neuropathy

Funny enough though, out of all of this, is in the last two MRI's I have had done though, my birth defect, the spinal bifida, has just vanished! The last three are on my sheet my Neurologist has written down as some o what is written down wrong with me. He has me set up to see a Rheumatolodist for a elevated ESR and a positive CRP, what ever that is, and dont see him till June first. After which, what ever he finds and fixes I go in to have a nerve block finally done to my neck to have my migraines taken care of, hopefully once and for all.

But what I need to know is what the hell does some of that stuff mean?

I injured my back about 7-8 years ago trying to right back up a 500lb drum that was leaking toxic waste, in doing so I messed up my back pretty good. During that whole ordeal with lawyers and workers comp, I was dragged through the system for a good 3 years as my back got worse from lack of care. But last surgeon I got to see was a very well known one that supposedly saw some of the Chicago Bears, and he agreed with all the rest, that because I had the birth defect in the area as the injury, and because of my height and weight, and location of it all, that I was still able to walk, though in pain. That if they did operate on me there was a very good chance Id never walk again because of the birth defect in that area, which is an exposed spinal cord, and I could be paralyzed from the waste down. They all told me to wait it all out, take the pain and walk as long as I can till I cant take no more of it at all, till my options then become reversed and its the operate on me and there is a chance I may be able to walk again. I feel I may be getting to that point. I am scared. I can still walk and stand, just not for very long at all anymore. And its getting to a point sleeping and sitting is becoming harder to do. There is not a pain pill, or shot on the planet that gives me any relief, and because Im diabetic my options of pain meds are very limited.

But Im thinking since its been 7-8 years, my time has come, and I think thats what all this jargon talk on these sheets o paper pretty much means, its time. My time to go before the courts is coming very soon for SSI, and Im getting all my ducks in the row to make sure that goes down as smooth as I can make it. My lawyer and I have been waiting over a year now, and they assure me out time is coming soon, and if so, once on, I may have to go or the operation and hope I can walk after its all done.

But knowing what all them words mean to me, would be great for I dont think this NP Im seeing at the "pain center" is correct in telling me "back result come up fine, the results showed up normal, there was only one disc that showed a small sign of a disc starting to show a sign of a beginning of a bulge, but thats it, were going to send you for physical therapy, and you will heal up just fine."

I asked her if she was reading the right chart, and said yes, so I just got back from a 2 hour drive to go obtain the results and MRI images myself to give my lawyer after I heard that reply from her, and above is what I read on my results, I did not read "Normal" anywhere on it, do you?
