People have been able to mod the boards with just a pair of resistors so that the Geforce* cards get recognized as Quadro* cards and end up utilizing the more expensive card's feature set.

whaaat? are you saying that nvidia puts the same features in a $200 card (geforce) as a $1000 card (quadro)?? all you have to is to "unlock" the potential of the gf cards?!? if that was the case...why isnt everyone modding their gf cards and why isnt nvidia kicking ATI's ass?
Because the people that need these cards aren't going to f*ck with their video card to save money.

The cards are all based off their quivalent generation Nvidia chip, so they are not any better for gaming, they just cost thousands more for features that gamers never use.

i would think the drivers would be less optimized for games, and more for stability/CAD performance, so the gaming performance of quadro cards might be slightly less than their geforce counterparts...
