Should be an interesting mix

just a question as to how 1/2 Van Halen, the RHCP drummer and Satch will mesh...

The new "supergroup" featuring former VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar, ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith recently began work on material for its debut album. According to Anthony, that music that has so far been completed for the band, tentatively called CHICKENFOOT, is "F--IN' rockin and we hope to be in the studio finishing it up early September so we can get out there and PLAY!"

While I respect most of the "band members," this will not end well IMO Nitemare :(

I'm hoping for the best on this, but not expecting too much from it. Still, looks great to me on paper...er...innerweb as it were.

Haggar + Satch = two clashing egos. Won't last long. Sammy can't keep a band because he's too into himself.

Listened to 2 songs, sounds pretty good to me. I love Satriani and I like Van Halen.

Very much incorrect. Sammy's had the same band since Eddie Van Halen fired him in 1996. They all love each other.

Sammy was NOT even remotely the problem.....it was Eddie. Eddie fired Dave, Sammy, Gary, Mikey, and even fired his own brother Alex a few times, even though they always made up.

Anyone who can't get along with Sammy has a serious problem.

As far as Satch and his ego, I can't comment.....don't know that much about him, other than that he's one of the best guitarists ever.

So my buddy let me listen to a copy of the CD today (I think it comes out tomorrow, he runs a music store).. All in all, its not bad at all. It maybe sounds a bit generic, but not necessarily in a bad way, its just traditional blues/rock riffs. Sexy Little Thing is definitely my favorite song on first listen through.

In any case, its a good throwback guitar rock album in an era where there is far too little of that.

I've listened to it a couple times now. It's not a bad album, but there really isn't anything memorable about it. I'd never skip a song if it came up on a playlist, but I'd never really seek out one of them either.

*shrug*

I like Sammy and he works well with this group.
