Another observation so far is that this one has a very ****** memory controller.

Sorry about the late reply..:)

Stock cooler has my 148 CACJE EPAW at 10.5 x 276HTT=2898gigs
Memory @ 241 cpu/12 (or 183 divider if you wish) Good latency too at 5-2-2-2 1T.
Mobo is the ASUS A8N32-SLI.

AMD Opteron 146 OEM

OSA146DAA5BN
CACJE 0546BPMW

Purchased from Scan in the UK

Does 260x10 = 2600 @ 1.5V on a DFI Ultra D with an XP-90 + Panaflo. Tried clocking the memory down but it doesn't help. It needs 1.5V to be prime stable.

My previous CPU, a 3000+ Winnie, did 270x9.

I have some other memory to try but I doubt it will make any difference.

Just got an OEM 148 CACJE 0546BPMW from Monarch and have it running at 2750(250/66/33/4xHT) all stock voltages and zero problems so far. It's running a little hot, 52 idle and 60 peak, but that's acceptable. Have an XP90 on it, could go XP120, but it's not too hot yet. Going to Prime95 it tonight while I sleep to make sure it's stable, but it's been up and running just fine for several hours so far.

Looks like I got the wrong motherboard and wrong memory to OC.
The MSI 6150 can only do 250 LTP, so I can only OC to 2250.
It did this fine with my old VS memory.
My new samsung memory is crap. I finally got it work by raising the voltage to 2.7.
It was not even stable at the default 2.55. Even at 2.8 the memory would not OC higher 2050. Its going back today and I will just keep using my Corsiar VS.

I will just live with the 2250 OC for now. I will be getting new motherbaord in 6 months and this 6150 will be used in my HTPC. I should not CPU limited much until then.

I got mine in yesterday Opteron 148 CACJE and have it up to 2900 without much tinkering. Will be trying for the 3000 mark later today.

Hello everyone. . .

I too am in possession of a CACJE. It's a 148 I ordered from Monarch a week and a half ago. I'm waiting on the rest of the parts to arrive before I start playing with it. I'll be delighted to get 2.6Ghz so anything over that is pure gravy.

I'll keep everyone informed of my progress.

nerp, 2.6 with an 148 CACJE will be easier than spreading warm butter on bread.

i have seen 144's w/ same stepping do 300x9. It appears that 146 and 148's are not as good as 144 of same stepping.
i have CAB2E 0546 FPMW and it appears to be a very good stepping.
I think week 0546's of any steppings have turned out to be a very good overclockers.
and if you could find any FPMW grab it quick. it's known to top any opteron.
IMHO:
CABNE 0540 FPMW=CAB2E 0546 FPMW>CABYE>CACJE>CABGE

I tell you, the waiting is getting tedious. Ordering parts during the middle of the holiday season can be frustrating since there are so many days that vendors don't process orders and the shipping companies don't move goods or update their tracking information. I'm sitting here with my CACJE 148 and it has begun whispering to me such things as "when are you gonna fire me up, baby?" and "plug me in and turn me on."

I've thought a bit about what kind of OC I'll go for. I think I'll be brave and just raise the FSB to 250, lower the HTT multi to 4x, run the memory its rated speed at 1:1. I paid for DDR500 so in theory this should work.

If that fires up with no problems and I can prime stable and memtest with no errors, I might just leave it be with stock voltages. Not sure if I really want to push it further than that.

If by entering those settings I find a stability issue somewhere, I'm not sure if I'll be inclined to ramp up voltages a little or settle for a smaller OC. We'll see, I'll update this thread as my experience evolves.

Happy computing!

I got my Samsung Memory from Buyaib. Thye seem like a decent site. Not alot of graphics and organized well. The memery is a piece of crap. I tested my 3 yearold Kingmax (bottom mudget memory) and my board still OC to Max withe memery run at only 208. The samsung can't even run 189 staple. If I move up voltage from 2.7 to 2.8 its stable for about 30 minutes then starts crapping out. The memory going back today.
I say stick with Cosiar VS, for the money its the best.

Cool, I'd appreciate that.

Right now I have my new video card, memory, cpu cooler, processor, power supply and a tube or arctic silver sitting on my desk.

The motherboard, however, is still in transit. *sigh*

See my post in the overclocking thread, i've got mine running at 2.9GHz :)

First day my CACJE has been running, got it to 2750 Mhz on the first try with stock voltages. I just set the FSB to 250. Memory is 2x512 Crucial Ballistix PC-4000 running 1:1 to the CPU at 2.5-4-4-9 1T.

:D :D :D I'll try pushing it gradually and start getting some screenshots ready.

I don't have a CACJE, but I did put in my new CAB2E 0545 MPMW that I got from Dave. So far, it's hours stable at stock voltage at 2.61ghz, which is a good sign. It may hit 2.8 stock, meaning it has a very good chance of doing the big three-o.

:)

2.7 at stock now. Yum.

Final results of my Opteron 144 CACJE 0546APBW. (Open testbed)

2727MHz
: 9 x 303 / 1.36V (Stock - Auto)
http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2727smallfft8hrs29wy.jpg

2430MHz: 9 x 270 / 1.20V (Tried passive cooling - 100% stable. Not in this screenshot)
http://img500.imageshack.us/my.php?image=270x9smallfft12hrs20qr.jpg

2916MHz: 9 x 324 / 1.56V (Max volt I'd tolerate)
http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2916smallfft8hrs40im.jpg

2997MHz
: 9 x 333 /1.60V (Max limit, not Prime-stable)
http://img474.imageshack.us/my.php?image=29997superpi32m7tp.gif

Overall, the speed I'd run 24/7 with this chip is;

A. 2430MHz (9 x 270, 1.20V) w/ passive cooling, or
B. 2700MHz (9 x 300, 1.36V) stock VCore, or
B. 2880MHz (9 x 320, 1.52V) for speed over FX-57

I'd have to say this stepping is indeed great for a 144.

thats what i see and talk about a timely post on your part thanks
i'm upgrading to the 148 from a sd 3700 hoping that the 148 will oc to the mid 180s (crosses fingers and prays to the stepping gods)
