Some friends told me about a version of linux, that was able to run all windows based programs and games.

Is this true?!?

If anyone has heard about this, could you try and send me a linky? 🙂

Thanks,
Carl

No, it is not able to run any Windows program. And yes, your friends are stupid.

With Lindows, you pay a yearly (I think) to install and run apps, which are in most cases completly free.

anyone on the tv is inherently right.

They might be talking about Wine, which is a Windows "emulator" for Linux. I've tried it but haven't had much luck with making it work regularly... But I'm still a linux noobie

Theres Lycoris Desktop LX. It runs about 50% of the windows games and programs that ive tried to install. Lycoris is not a very good replacment for windows it still has some nasty bugs that needs to be fixed but so does windows.

Does being misinformed make a person stupid ?

Being misinformed and asking for verification doesn't. Being misinformed and not listening to reason does. In this scenario, people will call you stupid for just about anything on atot and it doesn't really matter I guess.

Why would you want to put anything that has to do with Windows on a Linux box in the first place. You'll just be putting security holes on a perfectly secure workstation/server....

Whats the point? It won't run windows games and Linux has the bevy of standard apps that already work fine.
