You have to buy a Kia Sedon EX.

They give you a free Kia Rio 2003

The way they can afford that is that all the cashback/rebate/bonuses go to the dealer instead of you, so thats how they pay for the rio.

Any questions? :p
If that's the case, it still seems like a good deal. I checked out Edmund's. Even factoring in the $2K rebate, the difference between MSRP and TMV of a loaded Sedona EX is less than $3500. I would think a new Rio, even an '03, would be worth a good deal more than that.

So essentially you're paying the same amount if you were to but a Sedona applying all rebates to the final price minus any "haggling" you can do on it, and also buying a Rio applying all rebates with that to the final price minus any "haggling". In other words, you can't go in and ask for $500 over invoice on both less rebates, cause they'll just laugh at you.

Sounds to me like you're probably better off buying bother for cash outright playing the name-your-own-price-plus-rebates game for both vehicles individually.

No, definitely not. I called a local dealer in Chicago area, no dice. I called out west in Oregon, and yes.

I would have seriously considered it if I could have bought a 13k Rio Cinco, and then gotten a free 2003 Rio. But for a 22k-25k Sedona, no way. I guess if I lived out there and could sell the Sedona right back to someone for 3-4k below what I paid, I would do it. That would mean a 3-4k Rio , which is smoking.

It's not too good to be true. Don't forget, you're getting a kia, not a car worth having. Locally you can buy a new optima and they'll throw in a brand new 03 spectra with it. Who cares? They could throw in a dozen of them and I still won't spend a dime on a kia.

And this does work with financing, because at the end of the ad it says you must have a score of 700+.

Thing is most people with a score that high have enough money that they'd never buy a Kia.

Kia, to me, just continues to tarnish their repuation with such desperate things as this. All of the local ads for the kia dealerships sound like monster truck ads.

Well that is interesting Skoorb, but some people with a 700 credit score who happen to be just out of college, might be interested in that deal :).

Ideally, if I could buy a kia rio, with a full warranty, brand new, for about $2-4k after all is said and done, I would be very happy. I am driving around a leaky pos that would cost more to fix than it is worth. Kia's maybe for the most part, a pos, but as long as they have warranty at least all is not lost.

Are you serious about the deal near you? It does sound like they are getting pretty desperate.

Why do people consistantly say this? Kia has never been known to be unreliable at the least. In fact, I would say now that Kia is part of Hyundai - which has been bolstering a growing reputation as a quality car manufacturer - it only means that the car is even better.

Just because it's not an American car automatically makes it trash? Or just because you don't have to drop $20,000 on a car makes it trash? What is it? Tell me please, because I am nothing if not completely satisfied with my Spectra. I get excellent milage, an excellent warranty, and an excellent price on my car - which means more to me than where it was made.

As it stands, most American-made cars are trash these days...

I HATE THOSE COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!:|:|:| And they are on all the damn time.

I really dislike those ones where there are people in the background that say "YEAH!!!!" after every one of those questions.

And that one with the impersonation of Arnold was really bad. "Now that I am governor, the first thing we do is make car buying easier"

I'd buy one for $2k.

Yeah quite serious about the deal. Aves2k backs it up!
Just because it's not an American car automatically makes it trash?
From the guy who drives two Nissans, no.
just because you don't have to drop $20,000 on a car makes it trash?
From the guy who owns a 93 sentra worth less than $1500, no.
As it stands, most American-made cars are trash these days...
Agreed.

I say I wouldn't want one simply because the name to me is synonymous with nothing good, and it's not even the car's fault. Objectively I realize that for the price a Kia is a worthy purchase. It's just the name brand is SO bad in my eyes, due in great part to the sensationalized low-class advertising that Kia dealerships engage in.

Kia makes their new Armanti - which seems decent - and then they've got the Gravedigger-intro voice saying "Your BEATER...beater...beater IS WORTH...worth...worth MINIMUM...minimum...minimum FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS!"
And that one with the impersonation of Arnold was really bad. "Now that I am governor, the first thing we do is make car buying easier"
Oh yeah? Locally they just rolled out an ad using a fake michael jackson voice. Talk about STUPID. He says he "moonwalked" over to bill byrd kia and buying a car is "easy as one two three, do rae me, a new car for me." Fvck.

It's not the car I hate. It's the image. Kia needs to talk to their dealers about it.

LOL. They have another one here that has Bill Clinton's voice on it, but I can't remember exactly what it said. Something about how his new kia helps him pull chicks and how he got a great deal at keefer's kia. Then that guy screams DO YOU HAVE A JOB???...DO YOU HAVE $99 DOLLARS??......DO YOU WANT NEW CAR????.....and so forth. Then it ends with clinton saying how great retirement is with hilliary in the senate and then a bunch of girls call his name and he says he has to go judge a bikini contest.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! THAT IS TEH FUNNAY!!!!!!

They really do need some help with the advertising image.

I've heard it. They must have a centralized location and each dealer sends in their name and they customize just the part in the commercial where they mention the dealer name.

Okay, so after reading that post, I'm glad to see on the same page. It's not Kia that you dislike, rather the dealership advertising image, which I can totally agree with. Personally, I will never shop at a dealer with the annoying ads that everybody describes.

Case in point - one of the large dealerships in the NNY area around Ft. Drum - Fuccillo... their slogan is "It's HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE" -- and annoying as all hell. That's one of the reasons I ended up going down to Rochester to buy my car even though up here they were offering the same car for a little less.

I still find most people's aversion to Kia odd though. When they originally started selling in the US - the Sephia - I was quite impressed with their advertising. It wasn't offensive and it didn't really bash other makes.

As far as their lineup goes, if I had the money, I would have bought an Optima - GREAT car. The Amanti looks interesting, and I will probably get a Sedona for the "family wagon" once I get settled and make decent income. Otherwise, The Spectra is the perfect car for me. I'm still out on the Rio and Cinco though.

Well unless the damn thing doesnt start the day after you buy it it's hard to bash a car with a 10/100 warranty that can be had for under $8k. I know they don't drive particularly well, but they do make a great commuter car.

Is the Blackwood that bad? I mean, its just an F150. I always thought it was cool.

BT: Kia sedona EX costs 22k to start.

Thanks for gathering the info.
MSRP on the 2004 Sedona EX is 22,725, but at the local place where I bought mine, their sticker price is around 24,500.

With rebates, I ended up paying just about 20k for mine about 2 months ago.

So if they haven't raised sticker prices, you would get a Sedona and a Rio for around 24,500.
Since you could get just a Sedona for around 20k, you are getting the Rio for $4500. Not bad, but I'm guessing you couldn't sell a Rio for more than about 6k. So it's not a bad deal if you are already planning to get a Sedona, but also not something you are likely to make money at.

I love my Sedona by the way. Yes, I was worried about the reputation of Kia, but from everything I've seen, they are much better now than they were a few years ago. With a 5 year/60k bumper to bumper and a 10 year/100k powertrain warranty, I didn't see how I could really go wrong. It has all the features I was looking for and it's the safest minivan you can buy. That gives me peace of mind when I'm driving with my 4 kids. A Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey with the same features and options would have cost me closer to 30k. And there's a big difference between the payment on a 20k loan and a 30k loan.
