I've still got the original Asus P2B and I was wondering if anybody had successfully O/Ced with one of the newer cB0 stepping cpu's(600mhz through 700mhz) with it?

Thanks in Advance,

Yeah, i believe the Cel II's only come in flip chip version(FGPGA). By the way, i'm using the Asus adaptor with GlobalWin FKP32.

I meant that it doesn't have any suffix like -S or -F.
I'm sorry if I was vague.

Tell us what board revision you have. It's probably printed on the board between the PCI slots. Either that or a sticker. You'll need to upgrade your BIOS too most likely.

Asus P2B Rev. 1.10 BIOS 1012 (I think it was made at the end of '98)

I'm about to receive a FC-PGA 700 for my P2B, not sure of the revision but it's one of the first.

I heard that you have to use 1.8v on your slocket cuz that's the lowest it will support, is that true?

It really sucks that the only FSBs it has are 100,103,112, and 133, since my RAM will only do as high as 125...

Also, anyone want to recommend a slot converter?

bigd480, let us know how it works when you get your chip. i think the MSI slotket has pretty commendable around here.

i have a p2b-l (forgot the rev. #) that i want to make happy.

on a side note, i have pc66 at 100mhz (i think its limit is 103mhz)... i probably wont be able to go above 700mhz with a p3 700 unless i get faster ram huh?

bigd480,

The new ones can run lower voltages, but the oldest ones can't go below 1.8. Yours is an older one judging by your mobo speeds. Mine has a bazillion FSB settings.

By the way, I run 1.8 V anyway, in order to get 880 or 896 MHz.

P3-700 cb0 on MSI 6905 v2.3 with 1.8v on P2B rev 1.02

Runs fine at 7.0 x 112 with retail fan... Only prob was my Gorb on a slot converter wouldn't fit in my Inwin A500 so I'm stuck with retail but it doesn't matter cuz only other bus speed I have is 133 and RAM won't handle it and neither will Viper II...
