Make sure your date & year is correct.

Tools, Internet Options, Languages - make sure a language is defined there.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing on an XP system I just installed. For the life of me I can't get it to update to SP1 and the other fixes. I did another fresh install with another code and it still won't update :(

Although my main rig finds the updates fine. Maybe they're blocking certain systems?

I notice it the other day when trying to get the Office XP service pack 2 update. It would start and then fizzle out. Even had to kill IE6 in task manager to get out of the attemped update. For a company as big as MS you would think that this wouldn't keep on happening, but we all know better.

Did you read my post? 90% of Windows update problems are caused by one of the two items I mentioned.

mmx, I know that two new security updates were released w/ in the last 24 hours, it's possible their servers are just getting hammered.

Also got the two criticals (for networks) this morning - no problem. If you don't see them, then you have a glitch in your system - probably registry. Were you ever able to get updates?

yes! They say I have illegal copy of windows or something like that. I think it is just the fact I used to run it all the time then I formatted and now auto update doesnt work.

Forget about downloading Microsoft 'fixes' as they come out. Trust me, all you'll get is headaches and system instabilities. Wait for Service Pack 2.:disgust:
