Anyone have the Gateway MX7120

I've read the guides that came with the thing, I've looked online at websites, I've tried the Crucial memory selector but I can't figure out what type of ram it takes. I wanted to add 2x1 gig sticks to it (will be used for heavy simulations)

Now I got tired so I opened it myself. To my suprise I have only one empty ram slot (I'm guessing I can only pop in a 1 gig stick and it comes with 512 Mb built in) and it is for SURE not a regular DDR ram slot (Crucial Memory selector told me it was)

So Now Ican't figure out if I'm using a so-dimm ddr1 or so-dimm ddr2. I want to say DDR1 since DDR2 is for AM2.

Can anyone help me out to confirm? Thanks 🙂

I just bought myself an MX7120 yesterday. I downloaded Everest Home to verify what type of memory it takes. It takes 200-pin PC2700 SO-DIMMs. I'm planning to by a 1GB stick within the next day or so. If you'd like, I'll let you know how it goes.

I bought a 1GB stick of PNY at Best Buy...I should have known better than to get PNY. It only detected 256MB of it, and it randomly caused programs to lock up. I took it back, and ordered a 1GB stick of Transcend memory for $100 from Newegg.

I got it today, installed it, and it works like a champ.
