Anyone have shots of the 24" Dell LCD vs the 30" Apple LCD?

I can't compare them, but the 2405 from Dell is gorgeous, and I bet it is a lot less cash.

The 30" is a monster! And no, there is no comparison. The Dell is a really nice monitor, ESPECIALLY when they have the ~$800 deals in Hot Deals, but the 30" is just freakin' amazing! It's price tag is STEEP at $3000, but there isn't anything that can touch it. You'll need a dual link DVI card like the 7800GTX to run that 30" display on a PC though.

I think HardOCP's forum members have a comparison. Apparently ALOT of those members have money to burn. I'll see if I can find it for you...

I have actually compared them both. I thought the picture quality between the two was similar. The Apple is much bigger so the pixel size is a little more noticable. I had problems with the features on the apple, or lack-there-of:

-only has the one Attached cable coming out of it that leads to a break out box for power and such
-limited features, like usb, card readers, pip--they focused on minimal user interaction which I don't like.
-no other inputs, component inputs on this should be obvious..would make a very good 1080p monitor.
-we had trouble with it on non-dual link DVI cards and unix machines


For this reason we only buy them for rare, highly specialized needs. They are impressive initially but our productivity seems higher on the 24. The 24 is becoming our mainline monitor due to its performance, cost and ability to work with all our hardware.

If you have the money and the compatible hardware the apple is nice but does not beat the dell in a cost based analysis.

The Apple 23" and the 30" pixel size is smaller then the dells actually.

The Dell is 1920x1200 @ 24" and so is bigger pixel pitch then the 23" Apple. Since the 23" Apple has the same size pixel as the 30" it is smaller

I have the Dell 2405FPW. Lovely monitor, and at under a grand, can't be beat. However, little puppies like this 37 Incher are coming out soon. 37" for about $2000, hard to beat.

the 23" doesn't have the same pixel as the 30". Check the apple website, the 30" has smaller pixels than the 23".
