Hey AT people,

Oh well, first post got locked, had a good reason but I was assured that I can participate freely as long as I don't do any self-promotion. So, given that, does anyone have any questions at all about how to build your own laptop, what kind of parts, what type of training, everything ... except for where to buy these things. =)

Looking forward to helping people out.

Put it in your sig, trolling for business will get you banned (not my oppinion, just letting you know)

Yeah, just trying to be informative this time around and help build the intersest in customizing laptops. Hmm.. where would this post belong.. maybe in Hardware?

How about:

SFF, Notebooks, Pre-Built/Barebones PCs
Small Form Factor Discussions are happening here. Talk about the latest and greatest tips on how to buy and/or build your ?small? system and have the best one on the block. Notebook and other pre-built/barebones owners are welcome as well.

Actually, cost is not as high as you might believe. Of course, with the heavy discounting you see now-a-days from the mass manufacturers you can't compete at that level.

But if you're trying to build a custom rig, then the DIY route is a good idea since you can customize and replace a lot of the components. Even better is you can actually learn how to repair/service laptops and save yourself the hassle of sending things in for repair.

It's the same with desktops, you can probably get a prefab cheaper with HP or Dell but then again, you wouldn't have the entire DIY market if everyone did that.
