Anyone have problems with Zone alarm and DX 9.0 games???

I have an odd software issue....

When I run DX8 games and only had DX8 installed no problems with zone alarm suite w/ virus software running...

The minute I installed DX9 and DX9 game or 3dmark03 would blue screen at start....I turn off virus software and 3dmark03 and 05 work fine....However PCmark04 does great until vid portion and blue screens...turn off zone alarm and ofcourse unhook the cable modem and no issues...Played underground2 all night, tested 01,03 and 05 with different settings and higher mmemory timings, etc.

Zone alarm did the same thing on my sons AMD 2400+ sempron (non oc'd, all stock) until I shut it off.....can't be my system

Software can have some major effects....


I have installed all winxp sp2 updates. and tried 9.0b and 9.0c directx......

I have tried multiple sets of drivers from very old to newest....



I have heard the past antivrus software needs to be turned off in some games but it sucks that even zone alarm can be an issue itself...I have tried to give access to all known programs, but maybe I am missing one....

By the way both are using onboard Lans and Nforce chipsets...he has disk drivers and I have latest NF3 drivers....
 
Zonealarm seems to cause a lot of weird problems like this. Unless you really want to stick with ZA, I suggest a different firewall solution like Kerio or Sygate. Both have free personal versions that work very well.
 
I always turn Zone Alarm off before I go into a game just for the extra resources along with my antivirus. There is a little program called FSAutostart which turns off all unecessary programs and services when going into a game and then when you quit the game it turns them all back on. Pretty cool.
 
Does that leave you vulnerable to attacks on a LAn line like I have.....I mean Zonealarm is constantly stopping attacks or web scans....
