Anyone have problems with returns to Newegg ?

I returned about $500 worth of new, unopened merchandise to Newegg about a month ago. I was going to build a new system, but changed my mind. I got an RMA number from them and took the two boxes (clearly labeled with the RMA #) to the post office -- paid cash, pretty sure I sent it insured, but I can't find my receipt.

Now Newegg says they have no record of receiving the 2 boxes. They say I am screwed because I don't have a mailing receipt and will not refund my $500.

I figure someone at Newegg in the returns area walked off with it. Can't prove it, but I've mailed a million e**yed things through USPS and NEVER had a problem. Even if there actually was a problem with USPS delivery, I can see maybe losing one of the boxes, but both??????

Anyone have a similar problem with Newegg?

Thanks in advance.

I just RMA'd a vid card two weeks ago and didn't have any problems.
Of course I used FedEx for shipping though.

I think it is more likely that the USPS is responsible for losing it than newegg.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but to send $500.00 worth or merchandise USPS is a mistake in the first place, and to not save/use Delivery Confirmation, Signature, etc was a foolish move. ALWAYS use UPS/Fedex for expensive, important packages.

I seriously doubt Newegg "stole" your packages as you are implying.

Uh oh... good luck to you. If all else fail, I can go over to newegg and smack'em since I'm like 10 mins away from their warehouse. Yet they dont let me do pickup! 😀

I must say those guys rock and I highly doubt it was them who stole it.

When I built my first computer (from bottom up), I broke a PIN off a retail boxed 2.4GHz P4. It was my fault. I call them to see if there was any chance (I didn't beg, but just see what my options were...I was about to bite the $350 and buy a new one processor.

I tell them the truth that it was my first time putting a CPU on a motherboard and in doing so, I accidently bended 3 pins and snapped one off completely (yes, I know I'm dumb). I proceeded to ask the C.S., "am I screwed?"

She said, wait one moment, and 10 seconds later, says, here is your RMA number.

I immediately ship it via Fedex back (I even put the snapped pin in a zip lock baggy and labeled it "broken pin located inside...look hard") and within 3 days, I get a new retail processor!

I was sooo amazed at how they took care of me and now, I buy all my stuff through them. It sucks though that they don't have will-call center.

I agree. I hope you can find the insurance slip.

Yep, good luck.

I'm not Newegg's biggest fan, but I'm going to side with them on this one.

I am CONSTANTLY getting boxes that are "delivery confirmation" and "insured" that are addressed to other people at other addresses.

I am CONSTANTLY being told that "delivery confirmation" shows that I have a package that I do not have... at least until a week later after the recipient decides he doesn't want a bunch of non-functioning computer crap.

Sending anything other than your electric bill via USPS is FOOLISH. I don't want to sound like I'm just some meanie looking to crap on you, but I want to make sure I get my point across....

IF YOU USE THE POST OFFICE FOR MORE THAN SENDING THANK YOU NOTES TO YOUR ESTRANGED MOTHER FOR THE CASH SHE WIRED YOU... YOU NEED A HEAD CHECK.

Maybe this is the head check you needed?

Gosh, when I said the same sort of thing about Canon, I was accused of being biased. 😛

Yeah, I guess I am a dumb**s, but I STILL can't believe they did not receive it. Guess I was due for a head check.

I'm still looking for the receipt. Damn near tore the house apart, and I'm going to have to go over the place again.

Damn.

They just gave me a nice credit for a motherboard I hated and made me happy, even though they stated "no refunds" when I bought the board. Thanks to them, I'm playing with a brand new MSI K7D Master that runs like a champ.

I'm happy with newegg and their RMA's. So is everyone else I know who's delt with their RMA process.

Sucks to be screwed out $500, but next time think a little more before you buy and don't use USPS when so much is at stake. Expensive lesson to learn. 🙁

All hope may not be lost. I bought a $350 video card from them and it didn't work in my system. I gave them a CC number over the phone and they sent me a new card. The next day I mailed them the first card.
I got the second card and it wouldn't work either. I sent that one back and they got it and refunded my CC. But, I still didn't have a refund for the first video card. I still had the receipt but I didn't buy insurance. After 2 weeks they still hadn't received the first card. I figured I had just learned a $350 lesson but made an inquiry to USPS anyway. Two days later the card showed up and I got my refund.
Maybe your package was just delayed. *crosses fingers*
Now I always buy insurance on everything I send thru the mail if the amount is something I don't want to pay for out of pocket.

That's a thought for the optimists out there. I have had USPS take almost a month at times!

But I really am biased. 😉
