Anyone have problems with 5.0xx series of Nvidia drivers?

I was using the 40.72 driver and figured it was time to upgrade. But I noticed with GTA III and GTA:Vice City the game ran extremely choppy, even after I reinstalled. I used the same driver settings I had with the 40.72 but still the game was almost unplayable.
Has anyone had this sort of problem with the latest Nvidia drivers?

What card are you using? IMO, the 44.03 set was the fastest for the GF4 Ti series and the latest drivers are best for the FX series.

I actually just got a FX5900 nu, which was my primary reason for upgrading. I figured, like you, that the latest drivers were best for the FX series which was my main reason for upgrading the drivers. But my GTAIII and GTA Vice City are practically unplayable with the latest drivers. But if I revert back to any of 4.0xx series everything is fine. The card is faster, even with the older drivers so it's not the end of the world - I was just curious to see if anyone else has had similar problems...

I have a 5900nu as well, Vice City is smooth at 4x AA 8X AF 1024x768 for me on stock speeds, and even better overclocked. Try using Driver Cleaner to completely remove the old drivers and reinstall, that may help. Did you uninstall your old card before you put the 5900 in?

Where can I get Driver Cleaner? I had Det. destroyers which I did use - is it the same?
