if you mean the inspiron 8200, then all ultrasharp means is that it has a resolution of 1400x1050.....at least that's the only thing i could tell was special on my 8200's "ultrasharp" display, it's a nice screen all around though.

hmm..... now that i see that link aphex, the response time and viewing angles were definately better on my 8200 than on my thinkpad and ibook, as far as brightness, maybe a little bit brighter. did not think that had anything to do with the "ultrasharp" though, thought it was just dell giving 1400x1050 res a fancy name![]()

I have a 15.1" ultrasharp on my dell inspiron 8200. It does indeed look amazing. Even better than my 18" Sony LCD with a pricetag of more than half my entire laptop. (Not to say that my Sony LCD isn't amazing 🙂 Dell does have occasional "watermark" problems with their LCDs such that the edges of the screen get this jagged looking watermark on it. Mine has that. It's noticeable only on certain colors. Most of the time (in games, applications, etc.) it's rarely viewable. My overall experience with the 8200 is this: is it fast as fcking hell and will run any game at a native resolution of 1600x1200x32 high detail at a liquid frame rate. It is also heavy, bulky and not really that sleek (nothing wrong with the way it looks though) and unless you are truly going to use it as a "desktop replacement model" and not a laptop, you might as well get an Apple Powerbook. (Not kidding, those things are amazing for portability. And MacOSX > Windows XP. This coming from a person who owns three Windows XP computers.)

Better. Called and got a bit knocked off over and above all the deals on line. I was suprised they would do that, but it did not hurt to try it seems.
