Anyone have Onstar's Driving directions service?

My sister is starting a new job and as part of her training, she's got to drive around in three unfamiliar cities to various locations. She's never driven in them before and I'm worried she's going to get lost and freak out.

She has Onstar hardware in her car, but there's no service on it as of right now. I'm thinking about buying her a couple months of Onstar's Driving directions service until she gets her bearings in a new city.

It'd be ideal if they gave you point to point directions as you drove (ie: "Turn at the next light"), is that how it works? Or do they just rattle off a list of directions (Turn left on oak, right on elm, etc")?

Any help is appreciated, I can't find anything on google about it so hopefully someone here knows 🙂

vailable with Directions & Connections and Luxury & Leisure only.
When you're in an unfamiliar area, get help finding your way while you stay safely in your vehicle.

* Upon your request, an Advisor can use a global positioning satellite system to locate your vehicle.
* You'll receive directions to your destination or guidance to nearby hotels, ATMs, etc.
* Your directions will be saved to your account in case you need to refer to them again. Note, however, that if you request a new route, it will replace the current one in your account.

if its the same as in the rental cars, it is great
it babies you through and even tells you how to get back on course if you miss a turn

is it the same thing as they have in rental cars?

Thanks, but I already read that on onstar.com. It doesn't really answer my question, from the last point, it sounds like you just get a list, but maybe by "Saved to the account" they just note that you asked for directions to XX from YY and have the directions saved for the advisor to read back to you.

FoBot, I don't believe this is the same as what's in rental cars - that's usually either a company specific thing (ie: something Hertz developed) or some off the shelf thing that they sell to rental cars. OnStar is a service available in GM (and other) vehicles, the standard level of service calls emergency help if your airbag deploys, they'll unlock your doors for you if you call them, and they'll track your car via GPS if its stolen. If you opt for the Driving directions package, they'll give you directions and find restaurants for you when you call them up.
