Anyone have one of those combo washer/dryer units?

I just looked at a place today and want to put in an offer, but I'm reluctant b/c the place doesn't have in unit laundry. But, in this particluar unit there is an old combo washer/dryer that doesn't work and I could easily replace it. It was used in place of a dishwasher and fits under the countertop in the kitchen.


Has anyone ever used one? Are they dependable? How about prices?


No, putting in an individual/separate washer and dryer unit isn't feasable due to lack of space and appropriate ducts/plumbing?

Well my sister and brother in law have one. they like it. but it doesnt dry the clothes all the way, htey end up hvign to hang them up for a bit after drying them.

Couldn't they just put them through the dry cycle just a bit longer?

someone posted this question a while back. The majority of ppl said no.

I can tell you from experience that ...I had a machine that first washed, then dried the clothes... and it sucked. I mean, it is ok if you are only gonna wash like one or two pairs of jeans at a time and nothing else. Or three days of underwear. The washer is not bad... but drying!! Sheesh! the drum is WAY to small... and anything more than the tiniest loads took FOREVER to dry and everything came out rolled up in a tight ball and wrinkled to sh!t. Not worth it.

i say no even though i don't have one. i mean think about it, if one part breaks you are stuck with the entire thing or you have to replace both things!

They should check if the drier's exhaust pipe\tupe is partially cloggged.

I had a combo unit. It worked okay. The compromise iyou make with them is capacity. You have to do more loaded than with regular washers and driers.

I was planning on using this washer/dryer for smaller loads only. The complex has full sized washers and dryers in the basement that I could use for larger loads. I was considering buying the combo unit b/c I go to the gym daily and hate having sweaty clothes lying around. This way, I'd be able to run only 2-3 days of dirty gym clothes in the condo combo unit and save the heavier laundry for the weekend in the full sized.

No, because if either the washer or the dryer doesnt work, then you're screwed either way.

I hate all-in-one products such as a tv/dvd/vcr combo. our vcr stoppped working so we had to go buy a stupid vcr.
