anyone have mobil speed pass?

i am thinking about getting this, are there any fees or hidden fees that i should know about? or is it tottally free? not including the gas I buy of course.... thanks for the help!

 

If someone steals your keys, of if you lose them, they can use the SpeedPass for free until you close it - there's no authorization needed (a.k.a. a reciept to sign, etc.).

Personally, I wouldn't get one.

Yeah, get one. They're fun...and if you take it apart(it's only a little glass-encased electronic device! 😀), you can spend time thinking of strange things to do with it!

You can swipe your credit card at most gas station to fill up anyways (without signing anything)... so it's the same deal...

Don't those things charge directly to your credit card? If so, wouldnt you be protected by the credit card company in case of thief?

I have one, it's fully protected under the laws of credit cards and your card's regulations. (Don't attack it to a debit card.) Each transaction is a different charge on your bill, and you can set prefs to getting a reciept, something McDonalds never gives.
You can change the speedpass to one credit card to another, if the underlying card is lost. It also hooks up to Upromice if you or a friend wants to get a few pennies toward college.
Downside is new car keys can interfere w/ the radio signal, so they give you a detachable ring.

I find it really handy for gas purchases, 'cause I don't have to dig in my wallet for a CC.
Don't know if I'd bother to use it for other purchases, but it sure is easy to wave that thing at the pump and fill 'er up!

I have one but haven't found much use since I moved up to school in Santa Cruz. Can't seem to find many Mobil stations around here, though I heard some Exxon stations accept it. At some stations, you can go in and use your SpeedPass in the convenience store at the gas station so you can buy snacks and stuff. I heard that some valets used to steal them but I haven't run into any problems with that. I also saw a thread a few weeks ago about somebody on here modding his SpeedPass case to something else, I forget what it was. I use it a lot when I go back down to L.A. though.
