anyone have links to studies or reports on how dual monitors increase productivity?

I need to find some legit sources that explain our outline the cost benefit of going with a dual monitor setup. There is no way the powers that be at work will sign off on the expense unless I can clearly outline to them that it is not a frivilous luxury, but that there is a true benefit of spending the extra cash to go dual.

I've found quite a few sites that just say "Dual monitors increase productivity", but nothing that backs it up with a report or industry publication with stats or numbers.

Having had a dual monitor setup at home now for about 3 years, its hard to revert back to a smallish 14" lcd laptop screen when i had dual flat screen 19" 🙂

yah i poked around there earlier, some info, but nothing that says "companies who provide their works with dual monitor configurations from teh standard 15" single monitor config allow the employee to increase his or her produtivity by xxx% due to a) b) c) d) reasons... etc

What is the application? That's the difference.

We have dual-monitor rigs for computer-aided design users and it is well worth the minor additional cost. But we don't use them for programmers because it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Only on one set up I used did multiple monitors help. It was on an Integraph drafting station and it had four monitors. Just give me one big screen and I will be happy.
