When theres a big game, I almost always get to 1v1....usually with a pretty big stack...and then i lose it all and blow it

if i can just perfect my 1v1 game i would be so much richer

Sounds to me like you don't know when to fold. If the call is high before the flop and you don't have much, fold. If you don't have anything after the flop (and you're not holding both parts of a flush or straight that looks promising), fold. If you have pocket kings (or a pocket face), but there isn't your face on the flop or a good chance for a straight, fold.

Learn your opponents, also. We have a guy who is really frugal with his chips, and can't lie. So, whenever he puts in half of his chips by the turn, I know to get out.

you need tournament play books. if you get to the final 2 then I would imagine you would have a good stack seeing that others have been eliminated. tournament is different then playin money games. I dont know where to direct you, I dont like others tellin me how to play. Every situation is different. You have to get a read on people and know when to make a move or not. Its trial and error, you wont always be right.

This is the worst advice you will ever see. How frequently you should fold depends on if you're playing structured limit, spread limit, pot limit, or no limit and on your opponent. Do not fold so much that betting every hand is a profitable strategy for your opponent, they'll figure it out.

I'm "that guy" also...can't milk a sh*tty hand if my life depended on it. I know folks who routinely go all-in risking all holding nothing but suited numbers (no pair) in their hands and they never get the flush, but nobody dares oppose them.
