Anyone have food poisoning before? How bad was it?

The worst I've had was after eating roasted duck. I got a virus and the hospital didn't know what it was. Sick for a week with stuff all over my face that looked like chicken pox. (forgot the term)

How bad have you gotten?

never had and hope I never do.

A friend of mine has had it twice and he says you literally want to die.

Got salmonella poisoning back in January of 2001. Very horrible. I won't go into details but let's just say I could not stray from the bathroom for more than 5 minutes.

Don't know about actual "food poisoning", but I've had gastroenteritis a few times. Nothing has ever made me beg for death more than that. The last time I had it was about a year ago. Spent all night and most of the next day spewing from both ends. It got so bad that by the time I started feeling better, all I was throwing up was stomach acid. It is not fun. You lay there all day feeling sick, then you throw up, feel better for about 10 minutes then start feeling sick again.

I feel for you been there, 7 days in the loo does nothing for your social life

I was infected with Salmonella several years ago. Had it for three weeks, and spent 20.5 days of that time in the bathroom.

Having had food poisioning, I would say that you had a very mild case if you in fact did have it.

Couple years ago, my husband had it so bad that after listening to him all night, the women who lived downstairs moved to another apartment in our complex. Seriously.

fvcking terrible.

Made worse by the fact that I was the manager and had to show up to unlock the doors.

I had to pull over twice to puke air in the gutter.

Well, there was the big "Hotdog Meltdown of '00", pretty self explanatory. Gas station hotdogs, don't ever do it! You never know how long they've been rolling around in that rack thing. Perhaps it's better that way. It took me literally two years before I could eat a hotdog from anywhere, it was that bad.

The latest episode was the big "Guacamole Backlash of '03". Prior to this outbreak seven layer burritos from Toxic Hell were my favorite fast food. This happened back in January, and I still won't touch guacamole of any kind. I can't even eat guacamole flavored potato chips.

Food poisoning isn't something to mess with. If there's even a chance that something you are about to eat is bad, don't do it! It's not worth it, just shoot yourself in the head now and get it over with. You'll thank me.

I got hit on my 30th birthday celebration from a quick lunch at BK.

I lost 25lbs in 2 weeks and never regained it. I was totally out of it barfing, crapping, passing out. It was horrible.

Yeah, there was a big scare from a awesome ameri-mexican place called "El Famous Burrito" where a huge amount of people got salmonella poisoning...including me, since I ate there like 3-4 times a week.

I got some nasty bathroom horrors and had to violate the toilet several times an hour, while feeling like I ate a fvckin' bag of bricks.

I still eat there like twice a week, and haven't been sick since. :)

The worst i had i was in Tamarindo Costa Rica and was hallucinating. I was 5 hours away from a real hospital, i took almost 7 benedryl (threw up some of them) then passed out. I had heart burn for 7 days, have you ever tried to get antacid in a 3rd world country? I got a parasite and then got home and went to hospital.

Good news is that i scored killer surf!!

Last time I had it, I was married to the toilet for 7 days, atleast 5 or 6 times a day. Was not fun at all. There definitely is nothing like the feeling of having to take a crap every 5 minutes, you get no relief. It got to the point where I finally stopped eating because what ever came in, came out 10 minutes later.

If your stomach hurts really bad, you don't feel nauseous, and puking doesn't help, go to the hospital. I went Thursday night and ended up having my appendix removed Friday. If I would have tried to ignore the pain, it probably would have burst. The pain was truly excruciating, though. It started at 7:30pm and got so bad I couldn't drive myself to the hospital, so I called 911.

I didn't have any meat but I did have a veggie burger and broccoli and cheese soup at a restaurant, next day I was doing the same as you. First time I threw up, I felt better, and went back to sleep. 10 minutes later, I suddenly feel more coming back up and throw up in the hallway on my way to the bathroom. In a span of 8 hours, I threw up like 7-8 times, at some points just throwing up water that I drank to try to feel better. I had to take craps every hour or so.

Thankfully, the worst was over with in 24 hours, and the day after that, I still felt queasy but not nearly as bad as the day before. I couldn't even stand the sight of food for several days after that. That was the first and only sick call I made for my work in the past 2 years.

This happened back in December 2002, and since that day I haven't eaten anything potentially harmful at the same restaurant (different location though). I still don't know if the veggie burger was the cause or the brocolli and cheese soup was.
